  1. I assume that your not properly sanitizing your tub because there is no way fungus can survive that environment I would LOVE to find some hard proof that his resistant toenail fungus will not survive that environment. Bring it on, crusty! I wonder though, do you check your female friends for yeast infections before they enter your tub? Oh ****. Thanks a lot!!! Another thing to stress about!! snort. Thanks flibotte. that's good to know.
  2. Follow your own links there spanky. http://www.medicinenet.com/script/main/art...rticlekey=64458 <snip> Foot Fungus Spreads Among Families Study Confirms Common Assumption: and Athlete's Foot Spread Within Close Quarters By Jennifer Warner WebMD Medical News Reviewed By Louise Chang, MD on Friday, September 29, 2006 Sept. 29, 2006 -- Moms and football coaches had it right all along. A new study confirms that foot infections like athlete's foot and toenail fungus do spread from person to person among families and probably others sharing close quarters. Although it has been commonly thought that athlete's foot and toenail fungus spread from person to person, researchers say it's the first time they've been able to provide evidence for it.
  3. Do some simple googling and you will find toe nail fungus is not contagious You do some simple Googling sport! Damp, warm environments are the number one cause of the spread/breeding of nail fungi, not to mention other water borne pathogens like psuedomonas. I'm thinking you are just a little sensitive there.....now fess up, are your nailbeds yellow and crusty? We're here to help!
  4. I knew I could count on you guys!! HAHAA!! I signed up to work that day and cancelled dinner. Bought myself some time. I'll do that and report back. T/Y
  5. Errrr. Help. One of our dearest friends is coming for dinner tonight and a dip in the spa...thing is? He's got a really nasty, resistant to every treatment he has tried, toenail fungus. I love him dearly, but I'm kinda skeeved out about the jets blasting toenail fungus throughout the spa. Yes, yes I know lots of stuff is going to be introduced into our spa with letting guests use it...but but.... Somebody make me feel better about this?? Will a proberly chemicaled spa keep the fungi away?
  6. Thanks Hoopey, it's funny, I just did a Google search on the Vision cartridges, and didn't it link me to a post of yours from November 2005! Should you go in the spa during the 48 hrs the Vision is out? Will it hose things up? The spa has been very well balanced with only minute adjustments needed despite heavy usage (the 4 of us in every day since we got it)
  7. Ahem....somebody (cough *my husband* cough) didn't didn't read the set up for the Vision, went ahead and filled the spa without the metall gone and anti scale that is indicated in the instructions. Now of course we have a nice rust colored line around the spa edge. I've cleaned it, but can I take the vision out, add these chemicals, leave it out for 48 hours and resume as before? The spa is not even a month old. Thank you!!
  8. Ok Boys and Girls: I was going to start a thread and ask this...and probably should do it in the chemisty section....but since you are on the subject: The Spa came with Leisure Time chemicals start up set..allllll kinds of spa up, spa down, bright and glistening , foam down, water clearifier, etc etc.. The place we bought the spa from gave us a one page instruction sheet on start up, and the maintenence schedul is to add a TBS and a half to this size spa, of "Renew" or Potassium peroxymonosulphate to the spa 20 mins before we get in, and circulate. Is this the "shock"? What exactly is this stuff? We have the Vision system that sits on the filter and is supposed to reduce the amount of chlorine needed But we are directed to use the "Spa 56" chlorinating granuals (56% avail chlorine) in addition to the Renew. The alkalinty and Ph have been perfect the past 2 weeks since we got it, filled it and set it up (needed some spa down) I've added the spa 56 maybe every other day? (we are using it every day) The watrer is clear and lovely (except for the foam, which has diminished THANK YOU ALL. Does it sound like I am doing this right? Can somebody tell me what the renew does? I'm confused. Thank you. Sorry for rambling as always.
  9. Bag balm....heh good stuff. Thanks again Roger.
  10. YES! Thank you, because I just dumped about 1/2 a bottle of it in there....it worked, but sheesh, I'm sure it's pricey (this is the stuff that came with the starter kit. Is there a brand you recommend Roger?
  11. Thanks Phil. we'll go the no suit route when the kids are not around. Ugh. I'll feel like a shrew if our friends come over though, asking then to bring a non soapy suit and take a shower. Maybe I'll just hose them down!! Yeah, that's me too Instant G....the foam down.... it's not smelly or anything....OK, I'll try more, I was pretty sparing with it. The foam was so huge last night the kids were making hats and beards with it! Ha. At least they enjoyed it!
  12. My best friend's brother lives back east and got pretty sick, ie needed to be hospitalized with chest pain and shortness of breath which they ultimately blamed on a poorly ventilated inside spa he used every night. Be careful!
  13. Did you look at Dimension 1? We did a lot of shopping and we ended up going between the D1 Nautilus and Jacuzzi errr, I have no idea which one right now, but it was comparable pricewise but NOT jetwise or depthwise (I'm 5'9", my husband is 6'3") It is supremely comfortable, and the adjustable neck jets are pure heaven.
  14. Yes, we finally have our spa after months of wrangling to get it delivered. Ultimately, no crane, and it made through our next door neighbor's yard, into ours, and we only sacrificed one small bush and 2 panels of fence (yes we dismantled our fence.) So it gets set up last Wednesday, we tune it up according to the directions with the "Leisure Time" chemicals and the four of us (hubby, me, two kids 11 and 8) get in it Thursday night around 10. The water is clear and perfect. Friday....water tests fine after a few adjustments, clear and perfect. Saturday, no adjustments, but I didn't shock it before my kids, one friend each and I get in (oops..I think I should have in retrospect) Of courset he 8 YO boys have to be dunking under and "swimming" in the spa despite my admonitions (uh huh) The 11 Yo girls are spa'ing it, no hair dunking...and then the foam starts. I figure between the kids soapy heads (yes we all rinsed first)and soapy bathing suits (not rinsed), it is just..soap. So I shock it after we get out...and jet it up and squirt some (stated amunt) "foam down" in there...eh, not impressed, still foamy with everything rolling . Shut it down, cover it. Think...well, the D1 with the vision attachment should clear it up by 24 hours later. Tonight, I need to add a little spa 56 chlorinating stuff according to the test strip...do so, all OK, shock it as directed, get in with the kids. HOLY BUBBLE BATH BATMAN!!! Anyway, before I come here, I do some research...find this: http://www.askalanaquestion.com/spa_foaming.htm sigh What do you guys say? I want non bubbly instant spa gratification after all these months. I want spa perfection...everything else is perfect, this spa is the ultimate jetted luxury as far as my family is concerened Sorry for the late night rambling, thanks in advance for any suggestions!
  15. Nope, but I'll be happy to listen to recommendations Roger! hmmm. nope on that too...very HARD So. Cal H2o. Will the spa store test it for me?
  16. And so it goes and so it goes. Not much different here than the first time I logged into a forum over at parentingxxx to garner some breastfeeding advice in 1997. It's pretty easy to wade through the chaff to get to the wheat here, some of the satire and innuendo is hysterical, some scrollable. Anyway. All of you listen up and hear this: I'm expecting my D1 on Friday, and I'm going to need ALL of you I'm sure. So be on the look out. TYVM
  17. Children of the corn....sssnerrrrrk!!! Yeah, we shopped with our 11 and 8 yo Smooth move HA! I just knew you had a kid around that age!
  18. Really? it seemed like some good advice. we did most of it in any case...(except for not buying at the fair---duh us I guess huh?) the gal at the spa store said she could not match the fair price on the last day, didn't support the salesmen at the fair, HATED the fair, had SUCH a bad week, didn't get ANYTHING from the sale..Had to deal with constant complaints and lies...HELLO?? Your store is delivering the spa and the salesmen called YOU to confirm the price, because I heard them talk to you!! OK, I'll shut up now, I've vented enough about this. Amanda, Brulan, anyone else I've missed, thank you for your great advice and support. Here's the latest: The crane guy comes out....he's a really nice guy out the gate. At first impression, he was wondering why he is there at all. Takes out his measuring tape...measure measure Thinks the spa could be maneuvered in, mentions the PVC method, etc, he and Hubby confer at length, ends up with "call me if I can help, you guys need to get the delivery people back out here" So back to them we go, he is coming over Sunday. THEN We had our next door neighbors over for a BBQ. The hubby and our neighbor scope out the sitch. The wife and I sip a cocktail. Why don't we just bring it down the side of their yard (plenty of room, not even an issue) we'll take out a section of fence and VIOLA! yes, yes I know they want to sit their fanny's in my luxury spa, but damnit, so do I!! I can't WAIT to be posting in the "How do I keep my water clean and sparkling" part of this forum! Seriously ..and neither can you guys!
  19. Whoo boy, let's see Caldera (not at fair) LA Spas Cal spas (not at fair) Costco (not at fair) Dynasty (liked them too) I took the kids on rides, the hubby looked at a few more--some steel framed job with an unbelievable price for the TV/SPA/Gazebo/surround sound (like 3000?) I can't remember the name. I was fried by then. Some no name spa at Leslies Pool supply---scary. We were not looking for all the bells and whistles/waterfalls/light shows/stereos/TV Oh , and yes, we ae going with the crane. I will be writing to the VP of Sales and Marketing of D1 and outlining our experience as well. l
  20. Yeah, for damn sure it was a circus act. Just as irritating as car buying IMO, and NO air conditioning or new car smell! We shopped around a lot, actually. We went to the fair to do side by side comparisons, went to the Hallmark Pools store the next day and talked to the manager. She said she could do no better on the D1 nautilus than they did. Shopped around some more, compared prices on the net, and looked at a few other spas. narrowed it down to the jacuzzi and D1 (really wanted the D1 tho) Went back to the fair on the last day, and the spa shark salesman actially took another 400 dollars off when we voiced an interest in the Jacuzzi. Of course about 300 of that will be sucked up with the crane we need to use. They did a site inspection yesterday and said there was no way it could be dolleyed back We ended up out the door with the d1 Nautilus for 7995 (before tax) Howzat?
