  1. I have had this tub for a couple of months now and it has worked good. It looks like it uses 300-250kwh a month which has raised my bill around $120 since it put me into the 300% category of $.36/kwh. I am in a fairly mild climate in California. This is more than I expected so I have been thinking about trying to add insulation but I havn't gotten to it yet.

Sorry but this hard for me to believe, since I live in the midwest and bought a 9year old tub and as of to date we haven't noticed an increase in our bill any where near your's ours has been around $15.00 more than last year but there has been increses as well. maybe it's like the old saying some things are not built like the older ones who knows ?

  2. Oh boy do I feel your pain, if I pesonally paid a premium price for the spa you have and it's hasn't even been able to be used yet I would demand a refund or something. I hope your dealer has better timing if service is ever needed, by the way what was your resolution with the small crack in the handle area???

  3. Your total investment should be taken into consideration if you look at my used tub titled (my used spa) on the the second page of this site you will see it was used no name and I live in the midwest first power bill couldn't tell it was even installed, acutally our bill was $4.00 cheapier but is was a bargain after getting it and a couple of small repairs my total cost has been $850.00 this includes new filters, (4 month supply of chemicals, sump pump, and did the wiring myself for the past approx. 45 days have been in it everyday. except for 3 days at anywhere from a 1/2 to 2 hrs daily and no regrets as of yet so look at craiglist or whatever's in your range.

  4. Not seeing this tub in person I'm with you I don't understand how 1 jet could suck instead of blowing, if it's hooked up to the manifold they all should blow. but I'm not there and have to take your word for this problem, hope everything works out and hope you are able to solve all your problems with your new tub congrat's on the jacuzzi.

  5. GL from what I have seen is pretty overpriced expecially after Emerald bought them. I had personally sold this tub not long ago and had to stay away due to the lackluster story, nothing special to talk about and what seemed to be a price competitve to spas considered to be in the highest quality of the industry.

I like Reflections because you can get a good deal and FF. People who sell non insulated spas will argue thermolock but to me air has an R value of 0 and would NEVER personally own one so I would never recommend it.

I also know the rep for reflections who lives in Ohio and bleeds customer service so I know you would be taken care of.

(Does not mean I know which dealer you are looking at or care, just saying you wouldnt have to worry about not getting warranty or anything because the Reflections rep lives in Ohio.)

Not to start anything but what is the R-factor of full foamed, couldn't find any on most manufactures websites.

  6. You will need to find a comfort zone for your needed temp., with the cover on temp. will rise some, with jets on the friction could add a degree or so. play with and find what work's out for you and if your inside temp. stays the same year round it will be easier to determine than outside usage since it continously flucuates.

  7. And once again, derailed by one party or the other with nothing to do with the original topic.

    I know. My thread has been jacked. :( :( :( :( :( :( :(

I think the idea was to put aside brand bias, and personal preference on the sales philosophy and compare spa to spa? Great idea, but there are to many variables. Would almost need a thread per discussion, maybe one a week where actual OWNERS chime in.

I think you're right. I should have made this specific to two different models. Kengorman got it started with the Sun Peak vs. Chelsee, and Roger added some comments about manifolds, but other than that I think that we've gone too far off topic here. Not that the posts herein have been wrong or incorrect in some way, buy they haven't been focused on the topic. I have an idea & I'm going to try it in a new thread.

Well they say a picture is worth a thousand words heres my proof and if your every in my neighborhood you are more than welcome to relax in my no name tub. Not sure all makes and no name tubs are all the same but you will have to prove me wrong on my el-cheapo, under insulated, used tub. Since no one seems to know the r-factor from the big name spa companies I'm settling on this huynda tub for now. only time will tell it's not fancy but the burden of proof falls upon you, these jets seem extremely hard to me and especially at 9 yrs old. Heck I'll even let you drive my car and the wifes and you tell me where the value is at when they get to this age and price.

  8. Since comparing car prices to spa prices I personally own a 1997 lexus sc400 and a 1998 blue ridge spa (recently bought used) can I say that my lexus has out lasted my wifes 2000 buick century no. Have I done more repairs on her car yes does this equal value no her car cost 12,000.00 1 year old my car listed for 50,000.00 in 1997 so you be the judge of what's worth the extra cost. Guess what they both still run and are daily driver's except for mine, needs to be put up for the winter month's. Her car repair's cost dont even close to anything I have had to do to this car it's parts our unique and most can't be found at the local parts store, so far for the past month this old spa has served me well with no repairs and everything is originally except for the 24 hour re-circulating pump replaced by the prior owner and a broken manifold I replaced and a air divertor total costs approx. $60.00 so my total investment of $850.00 including wiring and chemicals have justified a big box used spa for me pictures attached.

  9. Not to disagree but overall energy use would have alot to do with the following factors such as ambient air temp., wind if the tub is not enclosed , usage of time in the spa, etc. but a r-value would give us some type of indication what a fully foamed tub has to offer as opposed to an insufficient insulated tub. thank's for your reply I'm still in debate.
