  1. yes i mean gunite, sorry I used the wrong word. Well they back up their warrenty and it is a small mom and pop company which is good as far as I am concerned. If I could put one in for about 13 or 14 grand I would be ok. I could probably have a local put the deck around it. My thing is the torpedo grass. Everyone says to move if you have it. We use roundup on a constant basis and it hardley helps. I am not sure that I will go this route, But I may. Buy the way do you know Hugh Grant? I have to ask people that for fun. Gina
  2. I have learned today that to bury a doughboy pool would be O.K. with my torpedo grass. There is a special liner for that. I have not gotton a quote yet, but would like to know if anyone knows a round about price difference between the buried pool and a granite, of course depending on size. I would go with the biggest doughboy that that would have. Would it be thousands?
  3. We killed all the grass and put the black weed killer pad and 2 inches of sand. the grass laughed at it.
  4. We had an upground pool from Kmart a few years ago and torpedo grass grew in it which distroyed the pool. I was thinking of buying another upgound pool except I am afraid of the torpedo grass growing again. I was wondering if we did something wrong when installing it. Has anyone had trouble with torpedo gras and pools? Thanks!
  5. my insurance company told me that i had to have a fence around the pool as well as a fenced in yard which i already have. I did not believe him so iI asked him again and he confirmed. People around here say that is not true. But maybe it has to do with hurricane katrina. My insurance co. is not writing any new policys. But since I have a five year old, I really do not have a problem with it at all. But is someone jumps the fences I will be liable.
  6. Well, everyone who had all the differnet kinds of pools liked them all and they had no problems. Re: fiberglass, pool with liner, and granite. So Iwill have to figure it out myself. As far as the person who came to help me figure out about my pool, insisted he come. So, I went with it. I was hoping he could help me but he did not call me back or email the pictures and give me some clue what the pool would look like. so. thats it. I will just let it ride and try again another month. Summer is already here. It is hot as heck.
  7. I am going to put in my first pool. I live in Laplace louisiana in between Baton ROuge and New Orleans. I am not sure if I want fiberglass or shotcret. Which is cheaper and which is actually better? I has someone come over and measure my lawn from diamond pools, but have not heard back from him. I assume that is a bad sign. any Louisiana people out there? SOme of my family members used fiberglass and others guinate and still a pool with a liner. all were happy with what they chose. I just do not know what to do here la and who I can trust and give good service as it is of course a big investment.
