  1. A dealers least favorite words "well, the salesperson said . . " Long and the short of it - write clean paper and the dealer will have you back, be a scumbag and it'll get out. The key is that dealers talk to other dealers and let each other know who the good guys are. Dealers should ask show guys for referrences from other dealers. Every employment application has that, so why should they be exempt? Word of mouth is good but not good enough. Also ask yourself who is recommending these people and how do they stand to profit from you hiring this person for a show?
  2. I heard it directly from a Coast Dealer, that its their pump number one is catching fire and the recall started in May. It seems like its on their older spas though and that Coast is doing the right thing replacing them, so sorry Coast guys for smearing your name. It was the Coast ones manufactured in 02,03 and some 04's The red end pumps and some yellow end pumps. It would be a good test of that dealer to see how they handle the question though. To be fair, I do like the look of their product and they put a lot of jets in them. Very flashy.
  3. Interesting that since you're not on that side of the business any more that you're throwing them under the bus. And from a ex-Cal guy, thats comical. You guys invented the show team! Is that because you want more profit in your pocket? And are you telling me that dealers who sponsor an event/sale aren't willing to make better deals with the hopes to offsetting the costs of the event? Everybody on earth knows that the word SALE doesn't really exist. Its all about dollars. Sales people need to ask for the business and build value in their product. Isn't it true that most dealers don't have the staff to do an event and have to use outside resources to do sell for them? You raise your prices for and event, I feel sorry for the guys who come in to sell for you, as they probably don't have a leg to stand on with customers who have gotten a quote from you directly. So are you the pot or the kettle?
  4. Contact your dealer a have them prove to you that it is in there. Have them show you. Any good dealer will take care of the problem. How are you supposed to know. BoDarc good info, its nice to see that some people acutually read their owners manuals.
  5. If Your in New England check out the Master Spas H2X. It uses a propeller system which you seem interested in and ther are a few dealers in New England that can get you one to try. Its a self contained unit that doesn't have to be built into anything. So although the price is higher than the systems from endless, the cost of installation is miniscule compared to the cost to construct a vinyl liner pool to put that system in - nevermind keeping it heated in the fall and winter months. freetimecreations - where did you get yours?
  6. Stay away from Coast if possible. They are going through massive recalls right now. Just ask your local Coast dealer.
  7. The Jacuzzi 470 is a beutiful spa, with nice lines and cool waterfalls. The only problem with it that I've ever seen is that the cover doesnt fit right. The way that sweep goes up there is a 1 inch gap between the cover and the acrylic of the spa. Ask to see how the cover fits and see for yourself, as the gap is right at the beginnig of the slope up on the shell. As far as floor models go, make sure you get a full warranty on the thing.
  8. I know Master does not employ this guy, so please stop blaming the manufacturers for dealers making mistakes and shady people running their own tent sales, taking deposits and running with the money. I lnow plenty of lying shady people who work for Jacuzzi, D1, Sundance, Coast, Hydro, ect. And how many Tom O'Connells are there? How many John Smith's for that matter? It does seem like this guy Tom has a rep though. Karma will get him.
  9. All of the negatives I have heard about them surround their marketing not their product, but thats understandable. Either way good luck to you! As far as your buddies go I've always said a case of beer and a couple of soaks in the tub goes a long way.
  10. Do you have a Master dealer near you? I have one and I really like their neck jets. They are really strong and above the water. I'm not sure if you would be comfortable with that, but the do provide some splash protection. Definately wet test one if given the opportunity. It sounds like you have already been all over, but good luck in your search!
  11. It sounds like you're doing the right things. by soaking the filter in a cartridge cleaner solution. If you are getting no error codes without the filters in it is definately the filters. I have a Master Spa and at a certain point you just need to get new filters, as it sounds like yours are gummed up pretty bad.
  12. Spatech - I second that. It's exactly what I do. Less is more and if it ain't broke don't fix it.
  13. As my first post, I would like to say, "wow!" you guys have a lot of time on your hands. I have read a few threads and I don't know where you people find the time to read and comment on all this. I think you owe your bosses a refund! I understand that some of you are passionate about your spas and there are a lot of industry cronies lurking about trying to cause controversy/help people. For those of you who genuinely help people on these things, Thank you. For those of you who just bicker about nothing, why don't you just go to a bar and get in a fight with a stranger, its much more gratifying. I understand that what I wrote is totally hippocritical, as I am reading and posting in this forum. To actually say something regarding the topic, I am a soaker and a jet setter does that make me weird?
