We recently moved into a house with a hot tub. The plate reads Model WSW40. Phase date 06 03 Serial 217801. When I fill it and turn it on everything sounds good, but when I go to press the jet buttons nothing comes on and the you cant see the air circulating in the bottom so Im guessing the heater does not work. Any ideas? oh I know its a costal spa

    bath chip repair

Hi, We are looking for a 4-person hot tub. I am looking for tubs that have easy access to the plumbing. I don't want to have to be chipping off foam to get to a leak. Any suggestions?

Thank you for the reply. The tub is extremely clean. I have done numerous (6) Ahhsome purges and is just 1 year old. No gunk of any color or kind is coming out of the tub. I started putting boric acid in the tub last October and that is when the "poison ivy" looking rash started to appear. I put boric acid in our pool for the first time 1 month after opening it for the season this summer. She was staying out of the tub and getting into the pool only and the rash was not clearing up. Drained, purged, emptied, filled and rinsed, emptied again then refilled tub. No boric acid this time. Went with the 3 step bromine set up. We do not use MPS because we know she is sensitive to that from a previous use of it last fall. Shock only with sodium hypochlorite. She got in it 3 nights ago after the drain and refil. Chlorine was showing 2 ppm and bromine 4-5 ppm. Alk 50 ppm, ph 7.6, and she broke out again but it was different in that it looked like a sunburn but was better in 24 hours. Got into tub last night (alk 50, ph 7.6, Cl .5, Br not registering) for an hour and she was fine this morning with no rash with dead sea salt supplier. She is sensitive and allergic to EVERYTHING which makes it tough.

Were you meaning to say Bromine is a known SENSITIZER and chlorine is not?

I’m about to run out of the PDV salt I bought last year. Had a quick check on eBay prices for 25KG bag - PDV feeder grade £18.5; PDV food grade £21; Himalayan pure rock salt £22; Dead Sea pure salt £23. So I’m thinking of buying Himalayan or Dead Sea salt instead given the marginal cost and unlikely they contain caking agent. But are they koi safe? All the ‘extra minerals’… anyone tried them before? Thanks in advance

    Hello Everyone!

I just bought a new Hayward S210T sand filter and I have got it all set up. When I did a backwash and rinse, I noticed two stubborn leaks that I cannot seem to fix. I used PTFE tape on the fittings on both ends (to the multi-port valve on the filter and on the ends that connect to the unions on my hoses).

Despite this, I have two stubborn leaks that won't stop. I have re-tightened the fittings, re-tightened the gear clamps, and rewound the PTFE tape. Still no dice!

One leak is located where the water return hose meets the union (the part that turns to screw onto the fitting in the multi-port valve). I am pretty sure the leak is not coming from the fitting attached to the multi-port valve. I even added a second gear clamp, but still nothing. I have not used silicone sealant to connect the union to the hose because I thought the gear clamps would be enough (Should I use silicone sealant to attach unions to pool hoses?).

The second leak is coming from the fitting that joins the front port of the pump to the hose coming out of the skimmer. I cannot loosen this part to reapply PTFE tape as it has become stuck (I think from the silicone sealant I had put in there last year).

I'd really like to get rolling on opening up my pool, but I feel like I should get these leaks sorted before I move on. I have added a picture and a link to a video (with close-ups of the leaks).

Thanks for any advice you can provide. I am still a bit of a newbie at this.

Hello, I have just put the plumbing on my tank that has two return lines drilled into the top side of the glass, and then it has a cost-to-cost overflow box that has another drain box on the back that has the drain line hooked into it. Everything is working for the most part and is very quite. The issue that I am having right now, is there is a slow drip out of my return lines and my drain lines. The plumbing is set up with barb fittings going into the bulkheads where I made sure to use plumbers tape around the treads. I have put hose clamps around each of the barb fittings where I connect my tubing. Do I just need to tighten my hose clamps even more? ( they are already very tight ) or is there something that I am missing. Any help I would be thankful for, since I am not going to fill it with salt until this issue is figured out.

I didn't think about this when I built my deck and gazebo, but after spending time in it, my area and city is windy on most days. NOTE : I do not want to install a fence or cedars - maybe in the future, but not now.

I am looking for ways to cut back on the wind so I can enjoy my outdoor space in the gazebo

    Things I have tried :
    1) blackout curtains - they just blow inwards with the wind
    2) Rolled bamboo curtains - they might redirect the wind, but does not noticeable cut it down

I was going to buy some bamboo fencing - thicker stuff, but I cannot seem to find it - must for a covid shortage.
So I am looking for something for the Gazebo that others have tried and works. Thanks in advance!

Hello everyone, Last year i purchased my house with an inground pool, Dating back to install around 1978 when the house was built. ( basing upon the pool permit on file )

I am curious if anyone knows what kind of coping this is? I am looking for the caps, along with getting a new liner. No one around here knows what type of pool this is. Nor can i find anything online that looks like it.  One person told me ester-williams, but i can only find them in above ground pools.

Any help would be great! Thank you!

I have been lurking around for a couple days trying to gather info. What I have is a inground pool. It started as replacing pool coping which turned into also replacing waterline tile. Here are some of the questions 1. Can I build a mortar bed of type s mortar, then allow it to dry and come back and set coping with a thin set to the cured mortarbed. Also I need to level a few spots on the beam what should I use as a bonding agent. And can I use the mortar to build up beam a little. 2. The waterline tile was decent but when the old coping was coming up it cracked some tile. So now I decided to replace all waterline tile but there appears to be some kind of epoxy behind the tile, not thinset. Can I grind it down and apply thin set?? 3. I also lost a corner by the skimmer and was wondering what would be the best way to reform this corner. What should I use to fix it Sorry for the lengthy post, but as always a small project has taken a turn. Thanks
