[Voltage present but no heat]

The heater relay is not closing. When i manually engage it,  I get 10 amps to the heater.

Its not getting the 16volts to actuate

Pressure switch is set right. Another relay clicks on when heat is called for.

I have 110v plug and play.

12 Ohms across element.(disconnected from controller)

0 Volts across element when calling for heat

120v from on each leg to neutral when calling for heat.

0.1 amp, essentially zero with amp clamp over each lead going to heater when calling for heat.

 

Any ideas?

The motor, if not seized, could need a starting capacitor or run capacitor.

As for the voltage on the fuse, i think you'd be okay with the 600 volt.

Could be the pressure switch, try adjusting it. Turn it to the left like you're unscrewing a cap.

I would maybe count the number of turns so you can restore it to the previous setting if thats not the problem.

Try powering down the tub. Maybe it needs a reset. Also, you could check the connection from the panel to the controller

A couple simple things to try.

1. Cut the power to the for a minute and see if the problem goes away.

2. Check the connection from the topside panel to the controller box. Some look like a phone jacks. 

3. Cut the power to the unit and check for blown fuses.

Background: 

I have a freeflow tlx with Balboa 54115 Board set to run on 110v. I got it used and not working. I think the guy i got it from got it broken from someone else and couldn't fix it.

This is my first experience with a spa.

After consulting the wiring diagram, correcting some reversed wires and calibrating the pressure switch, all seems normal. The real problem was poor job of replacing the onboard fuse leading to intermittent board function which i repaired.

Question:

In a state were its below temperature set point: when I switch the pump to high speed, it stops calling for heat. Returning to low speed, it  calls for heats again. Is this normal?

Theories:

1. The higher flow rate may be faulting the pressure sensor.

2. Something else is wired wrong. (I found several incorrectly wired connectons to the control board. Its almost like this guy was just trying everything or someone sabatoged it.)

3. Some circuit is fried on the boad because of the situation noted in number 2.

4. Its normal operation for this contoller to cut the heat in high jet mode.

[Balboa Spa - Filter Pump Won't Stop Running]

Check your wiring from the control board relays to the motor. If you have the high and low reversed you may get this, I did. Check both the board and the motor.
