  1. Humans have been using chlorine as a disinfectant for 192 years, amazing how some still dismiss what it does and can do.
  2. Don't have any ideas to help your problem, but can say I don't see much more than 2-3 drop in 24 hours. I have only had my tub about a month so don't have much to base this on but what you see dosnt sound right.
  3. TSP & OxiClean ?? Any ideas on the mixture. I picked up a 50lb bag if TSP (guess that will last a while). I soaked them in the tsp solution 1/4 cup per gallon and it seemed to work good. Wonder if OxiClean would help any?
  4. I have tried both ways (adding 2 and adding just 1) results were the same.
  5. The little cups that come on top of kids medicine bottles are great for measuring and adding the daily chemicals.
  6. I wanted to share some data i have been collecting from my Jacuzi j-480 with the UV system. The tub is just now a week old. I have been adding about 0.4oz (2tps) of diChlor each night after our 2 person 30min soak. Tues(before soak) = 0.5 FC (tub last used on Sunday) Tues (after soak & adding 2 tsp dichlor)= no test done Wed (before soak) = 1.4 FC and 0.4 TC Wed (after soak& adding 2 tsp dichlor) = 5.0* FC and 0.5* TC Thur (before soak) = 2.2 FC and 0.2 TC Thur (after soak) = 1.4 FC and 0.4 TC Thru (after soak & adding 2tsp dichlor) = 4.4 FC and 0.4 TC I am up to 39oz (33ppm FC) of DIchlor added - should be gettig close to 30ppm CYA All testing done with taylor FAS-DPD using 25ml samples. (*=10ml test)
  7. <p>chem geek, i see when you analyzed Orion's number you speculated that you estimates for chlorine addition may have been high. I wanted to ask if you think the "ClearRay" UV system that he stated is in his tub could have any bearing on this. I see it has been discussed that Ozone will eat up higher levels of free chlorine, would the UV system be beneficial in this aspect ?
  8. What is this EZ Spa? I just recieved my tub and got a startup kit with it from EZ Spa. It has the typical Up, Down, Calcium, DiChlor and this bottle just called "EZ Spa" and a "EZ start". The system is touted as Once a week treatment. "specially blended formula manages spa water while eliminating the confusion of adding multiple chemicals every other day. EZ SPA contains a clarifier, stable oxidizer, scale inhibitor, water conditioner, and balancers (pH, TA and CH) to keep spa water clean, clear and trouble free." I had planed on doing the DiChlor/Bleach treatment process. I have my Alk,CH,pH and FC all set and was just wondering if i add this "EZ Spa" what will it do? Also the "EZ start" did not work as decribed on the iron. I did as directed (added the night before) then this morning when i added the Chlorine, you guessed it red water. Now i have to wait to filter all that out. (should just have used Metal-Gone, seems that works for most people).
  9. where in Maryland? i have a j-480 being delivered next week.
  10. I have a 480 coming in a few weeks and was just thinking about the same measurement. What would the pan dimensions be in relation to the overal dimensions listed in the spec sheet?
  11. I would be interested in some feedback on using the standard 50amp setting. My run would require a upgrade to the wires adding a bit to the cost. Any major heat loss using the 50 amp? I'm in the mid-Atlantic region so winters aren't that bad.
  12. What would a typical reduction to get on a floor demo? Would it make a difference if it was a wet demo unit?
  13. So did you end up getting the Euphoria? Did you wet test them before deciding? I have been looking for some time now and live in a rural are with only a hot spring and beachcomber dealer with 45min. We have expanded our dealer radius and now tried out several of the Jacuzzi models. We really like the j-480, not sure what to do now.
  14. Got some wet testing done yesterday, with my wife. and as everyone states it must be done. What a difference in the feel from tub to tub even within the same brand. All the dealers seem to be very accomidating, I guess one they realize you are serious about a purchase. We started the day wanting a tub with a lounger. We got to try out most of the hotsprings line up and nothing really seem to jump out. The Envoy was difficult to enter and exit as the lounger is right at the front, also the lounger was to long and we didnt fit, the captains chair was kinda nice but cut for a larger person so the jets didn't hit in the right places. The sovern had a nice entry step and the lounger was a bit shoter and did work ok but we didn't seem to be very exited about the rest of the seats. They had no Aria in stock and won't for some time so still wonder what it would be like. The beachcomber dealer didn't have the models we really liked in but did try one of the entry level tubs and again no wow factor. After we left there we figured a lounger was out of the mix and start to think about some other ideas. We then made the trip to the Jacuzzi dealer. Tried a j-480 and we got the wow response. The lounger fit us both great, loved the center well hump with the feet jets. All of the seat just seem to fit well. The Jacuzzi dealer was very nice, explained everything and was not pushy. Did get a little of "ours has the best x in the industry" stuff maybe a bit more than the beachcomber guy but less than the hot springs guy. They do have 3 locations and have been doing the jacuzzi for some time. The made what seems like a fair offer of $11,700. So now need some opinions. Should we wait till we can compare to some others? What other tubs would be similar to the j-480 that we should look at?
  15. I was able to find a Jacuzzi dealer today but is about 2 hours away. They were very pleasant to deal with and had 3 tubs wet and said he would try to accommodate wet testing the models we want. We are going to go visit our local HS & Beachcomber (within 30 minutes) the weekend and talk with them about filling some tubs as recommended. From my reading any of these 3 brands would be equally as good if the comfort is right ?
  16. My family is searching for a tub. I'm having a problem finding a dealer that has more than one tub wet for testing locally. Would like to purchase locally so within 2 hours we only have a HotSprings and Beachcomber dealers. The hot springs dealer has about 4 tubs on the floor with water only in a grande (to big for us). Beachcomber dealer just got done a clearance sale to make room for the winter stoves and fireplaces they sell and now only have a low end small tub wet. We would like to get something before winter but are really worried about just picking out the model we with out wet testing the exact model we like. Any ideas
