  1. For now, I think we'll just stick with the Whirlpools, it'd be a shame to get rid of brand new appliances, they still have the stickers on them. They're nice enough. The Sub-Zero was left in our house in MI. Hope the new owners enjoy it. Redid the kitchen, and then moved 6 months later. Our current house has all Maytag. My only complaint has been the temp accuracy in the ovens, and the fridge has been a pain in the a**. At least the new house is already wired for a hot tub, with stamped concrete patios for the tub.

By any chance to you service central Vacuums? Our new house has a Beam central vac, but we have to order the tools, as the previous owner took them.

And on to Master Spas, I think they just have a bad rep from poor dealer support. My tub is built with some of the same things, Waterway jets/pumps, balboa controls, and similar designs. In the end, it's your spa, pick what you want. As long as you have a good dealer, you'll be set. Even if your dealer/Master goes under, Waterway jets are used on a lot of spas, and parts will always be readily available. Same with Balboa and AO Smith motors.

  2. Appliance repair you say? Mind answering some questions? How does Whirpool stand in the line up? Our new house, which we close in about two weeks, has all brand new Whirlpool appliances, minus the trash compacter which is a Profile, and we went out and bought a brand new Whirlpool Gold French Door fridge. We used to have Whirlpools many years ago before our Sub Zero and KitchenAide kitchen remodel, and found them to be decent, is that still true?

  3. ps hjames710, ...Eukabana???Do you mean Eukanuba?? We too have a golden, a puppy, our 3rd golden, (our other 2 lived healthier and longer than most) and Eukanuba is not one of the best feeds. Dogs are not meant to have grains. Raw is the way to go and don't get me started on what vaccines do to goldens (our sweet Mackenzie was seizing within a few hours of her parvo vaccine)....Let's just agree to disagree and down the road we will see who is wise......

You got me on that spelling mistake, but there were many I could've gotten you on. I switch back and forth between Eukanuba and Science d i e t. I'll feed my very expensive show quality golden (I'll just say I spent more on him than I did on my tub) on what his breeder and my vet recommend. His parents are both champions, and he has the most beautiful fur of any golden I've ever seen. Mine is about a year and a half at this point, and trained like no other.

  4. And NOTHING unhealthy EVER comes out of China. Their product information and research controls are AAA+... and that red wine you drank, with all its anti-oxidants, at dinner didn't metabolise in your liver and turn into formaldehyde(a highly toxic chemical) either I suppose....

    ROFL! Well said!

NOT to mention the brain damage caused by alcohol (which studies have shown women are more prone to than men).

The lead paint on the kid's toys and the melamine in the pet food and the undersized wire in the extension cords from China are not a problem either, I guess.

There's a reason I pay ridiculous amounts of money for Eukabana dog food for my show quality golden, and there are reasons why my vet recommends it. People give you advice for a reason, they've dealt with the same things. I'd like to think of Waterbear and others on here as my hot tub veterinarian, although some of the stuff they recommend is expensive (test kits anyways haha), there's a reason why it's recommended.

  5. My sister has a hot tub, not a pool. Same with me. Although ozone is your choice, I'm just saying that I benefit from it. My tub is constructed very differently than the average one. I have numerous ozone mixing chambers and the ozone/heated water pipe goes all the way around the tub. Skip to about 7:20 to see what I'm talking about. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TR714HQPrAc&feature=related

  6. I didn't mean to imply that all RNs weren't following proper procedures. The RN that nearly died from Legionnaire's Disease got it from a hotel hot tub that had water replaced between guests but was not sanitized in between. It wasn't due to a lack of proper disinfection for a spa of her own. You can read more in her post and related link.

I didn't take it the wrong way. Just most health professionals I know are using bromine or chlorine for a reason. My cousin is also an ER doctor, with a 2001? Landmark, he uses chlorine shock every time after getting out of the tub.

My sister, a pediatric RN, who is now promoted to a manager, at The Children's Hospital, has a tub with Ozone. She uses Chlorine, just as she should. She has severe eczema (like most of us in my family) and has no problem with it, as long as the water is balanced.

Chlorine baths (about 50 ppm with NO CYA) are often prescribed for eczema, including peidatric cases.

That's very interesting, I did not know that.

Let's not forget why we use chlorine/bromine, it ACTUALLY kills bacteria and harmful stuff in the tub. I have no problem with my Ozone system, it doesn't bother me at all, and I noticed a significant drop in chlorine use over my last tub. But for me, it makes sense, I use it daily, any typically open up the tub 5 or 10 minutes before I get in. All I ask of this nurse is that when she has guests over, she lets them know all she does is use vinegar, not a real sanitizer in her tub.

Not all nurses are crazy. She cleans her house with bleach, and the typical Murphy's oil or Bona on her hardwoods. She is always vaccinated, and makes sure that her kids are vaccinated.

  8. Personally, I have never seen a Maax spa, so I can't comment on it. But I have seen and been in a Sundance, and I owned a HotSprings. How many tubs can still be up and running with the original control panel and heater after 18 years? Not many. That HotSprings was pretty problem free, and parts were always readily available. Known of a lot of Sundances that were in the same boat. The dealer being close is also very important, when your spa runs out of warranty, and you have to make a service call, do you really want to be paying for 160 miles of travel?
