  1. We both get nekkid within a few seconds and don our robes (tubbin' nekkid is the only way to go.) I have this on my Bumper
  2. Does anybody really think hydro-spa could sell there spas for 7,500 bucks? i would just go to a top spa dealer for 8,000.
  3. I had are former dealer tell me this and a Master spa dealer.
  4. I have heard that the ozonator will eat the pillows and the bottom of the cover?? i have an ozonator but after five years i dont think it works anymore.I dont think i will get another one and if i get another tub i dont think i will get it with it. I hope you know that you are suppost to wait 20 minutes after you put your chlorine in to put the cover back on. If i'm wrong about this let me know. Do you like the tub better in the cold or warm weather???
  5. I still think it's your opinion that a thermal blanket would be a hassle with few benefits. Thank you You are correct. I am just an end user.
  6. Good idea on the dealer. Full foam is awsome in the cold. I'm not sure on the waterfall being cold what it will do for it.
  7. What did your dealer say??? I think your spa is full foam.
  8. Do you wait for the coldest days of the season to use your tub? In Ct. the average cold day in January is arguably 18 degrees. At least at Bradley Intl. airport. See link: http://www.wunderground.com/NORMS/DisplayN...als=on&MR=1 Yes we do. we enjoy it more the colder it is. add wind to 18 Degrees and what does it do-----it gets colder. We get to -5 below here with no wind. My argument here is----is the blanket worth it in the long run??? No. Just get a good Quality cover and a full foam tub and enjoy. It does not sound like you have been in a spa in cold weather?? you move fast to get in and enjoy the warm water. You need to do the least possible, so puting the cover on is the only thing you need to be conserned about. Now go find out how many like the spa better in the cold?? how many like it in the summer??? Most empty the spa in summer around here. Go do a report and get back to us on your findings.
  9. Yes while the solar cover is off the spa.
  10. He also mentioned that they will freeze. If that's true then wouldn't the actual spa cover freeze as well My spa cover when removed from the spa gets hard in freezing weather. if you take the plastic solar sheet off the water and put it besides the spa it will freeze up hard as a rock. You will need to bring the so called solar cover in the house so you will be able to put it back on the spas water then you put your cover on the spa.if not you need to let the spas hot water unfreeze it so you can put it back. try doing it when its zero outside and your wet from getting out of the 104 degree water. Top of the line spas have very good suction on the skimmer and can and has pulled the blanket over so theres exposed water to the cover. You think like my buddy Did that a pool is like a spa its not.
  11. Good morning Dave.Hows the crown on this cold morning.
  12. Nope, no problem with NSPI at all.... good thing, as they went bankrupt years ago . I'm not saying this info isn't correct, what I am saying is that if someone wants to present info like this to me (apparently scientific), for ME to believe it, I WANT to see some evidence to back it up. I don't care who presents the info. Until i see the evidence or personally believe in their reliability, I want the evidence. There are so many names on that document, info could have come from, been collected from, any/many source(s), and there's nothing to show that it was confirmed by anyone. I hate assuming, so I don't assume, the university verified anything (no where is this stated). One quick example I picked out was to not clean a spa cartridge filter until it's pressure increased by 10 psi. This is true for pools (which have little or no back pressure created by the lack of any jets), but in a spa, at least for the last 25+ years I've been in this business, my experience has been that by the time the pressure in a filter increases by 10 psi the filter is WAY past needing cleaning and would need to be replaced. I've never been one of blind faith, and as a judge would instruct a jury, if you find one thing incorrect, you may consider everything else is also incorrect, unless you feel evidence has been submitted to prove otherwise. 'Dr. Spa', Ok, I can accept your position, but the question still remains about the use of the blanket in addition to the spa cover. Will it hold the heat better? Yes or No I belive it will "help" hold the heat better.I also belive if you have a great cover you dont need the blanket. its just something else to do in the very cold. Like i have said before----people that have used them find that the skimmer sucks the blanket into it . So now it becomes a game of putting the blanket in it proper place while its snowing 104 Degrees
  13. Thanks bond I will keep up the good work.
  14. How would you wet test a spa on the internet? thats why i said it. i belive you have something to do with internet sales of spas. i could be wrong, who cares. Oh Biggs!!! i have a round tub because its very easy to move. see i build, fixup homes. its so easy to put it on its side and roll on a trailer to my next house. i will be in the next house for 10 years(its big), so i now can get a square spa I dont recommend rolling your nordic but they are built to last and they are a work horse. My girlfriend said-----if i get another tub she wants it put next to the crown so she can use it and i can use what ever tub i get . She loves the crown and the people that make up Nordic(i do too). Now i'm off to close are summer home(on the lake) in new Hampshire.Oh one more thing! my girlfriend just said----if a guy calls himself Bigg, he small
  15. On the blanket you need to remove it before you get into the tub now when you try it and remove it you will see in sub zero weather it will get very hard. you might come back and say--- i will put it in the house smart but you will need to bring it out in very cold weather. My point is----do the least possible in the cold weather and you will not get sick.
  16. that you may not that the time to even maintain Is this english Correct yourself first so you dont look stupid it was intended for Bond. I do speak a different language then you where tought in your school. You can put me on your ignore list? Please do. My ph is great. my doctor thinks(more test needed) that i'm allergic to dichlor?? time will tell.
  17. For the last month i have only used one tablespoon(i thought this could be the rash) of the non clorine shock and about a teaspoon a day in dichlor. I have been in the tub in the last two weeks about two hours worth. I have three red bumps where i get them on my right side waist band. So now i'm going to use the bleach and see what happens for the next month. the two CYA test came back to low to read. i'm also put in a tablespoon of the non clholine shock and will do so every week till i dump the tub the first of the year. Seeya soon.
  18. Quite true. On average the difference is about 15 pounds. I don't have the figures for 5-2.5, just a 5-3.....and it's Sunday, football day, so I ainta figurin it out. But, 6/4 1 pound has a R value of R-19.3 (NOTE, this is JUST for the foam and does not take into considerating the other components of the cover. R-19.3. A 5/3 2 pound is R-17.4 - 5-2.5 #2 would be less, obviously. Strengthwise, a 5/3 #2 will hold quite a bit more weight that as 6/4 #1. Basically for every 1.66 pounds of weight the 6/4 will hold, the 5/3 will hold 2.66 pounds. I've said it before, and I'll say it again, a cover with only a 1" slope WILL fail prematurly as there's not enoug slop for water run-off. Been there, done that! Shaamus is "spot on" in ragards to comparing R values from one manufacturer to another (dude! shame-us? how you come up with this :-) ?) 2 pound foam is 2 pound foam, and has the same R value, regardless of manufacturer........... ASUMMING, it IS IN FACT the same density and the SAME thickness. You see, this is an area that is becoming more and more controversial. Are the published measurememnts the thickness of the foam cores? Or is the thickness of the vinly (including the folds of the seams) and other materials in the cover being included? Some maniufacturers are beginning to use NOMINAL measurements, for both the thickness AND/OR density of the foam. It's not unheard of for some sellers of spa covers to call 1.25 pound density, 1.5 pound density. Others are calling a 3-3/4" thick cover (or even 3-1/2") 4". Using nominal measurements, 2 covers that APPEAR to have the same specifications could in fact be a 3-1/2 x 2-1/2 1.25 pound foam, advertised as 4/2 1.5 pound. The difference in both the R value and strength between these two is HUGE (as can be the price), yet on "paper" they look to be the same cover. What he said
  19. Shaamus, Thanks for your input, I mentioned that the r values would be close between a 6-4 1lb and a 5-2.5 2lb would you agree that it is accurate no matter which one is higher that they are very close. and that if weight bearing is a concern than the 5-2.5 with the 2lb would be stronger. I am not saying one is better than the other but that they both just fill different needs. 104 I think you will be very happy with your cover, I really like Nordic spas but they themselves have told me that their covers are not the best part of their spa and that's why a dealer can order them without them, they just said that there are very few cover makers in their area. And just to add most if not all spa makers have their covers made for them including all of the biggest names in the industry. I know i will be happy. If i realy like it and get lets say a jacuzzi? i will have the 6" to 4" made by Dr spa and have it shipped.
  20. After five years I am trying a blanket...just finished cutting it. Still have original cover but lifter needed replacing. My original cover was damaged when it blow over and got a hole in the mesh. the other side is great. I like the idea of the 6" to 4" and the Full hinge seal to keep my baby warm this winter. Some have said the blanket gets sucked into the skimmer. Its also a pain to make sure its under the cover or on the rim of the tub when you close your cover. some also said it looks awfull from the outside hanging down.

  22. I know i will see a great savings over my old cover in the first winter. The great news is the new cover cost less the the old cover.
  23. So your "cheapy" tubs only come 4-2 Inches.I will see a great saving's over the old spa cover and it will last longer with the "double wrapped" plastic. your's dont come with the option of "double wrapped" eather
