  1. PLEASE don't click the report button if the spam is the first post in a thread. These are EASY for us mods to spot, and doing so more than triples that amount of time it take to delete them.

As I can see the view count of a thread (I believe anyone can), you can see how many people have viewed threads with Canadian pharmacy in the subject line. Then, 6 people report the post, and I have to delete the post, and 6 reports of it.

Don't know if the spam is coming from the same IP or Domain or not. Sometimes if you contact the ISP they can or will help to try and stop the spam. They don't like it anymore than we do. Just a thought.

  2. I too have been using the Technichlor SWG for about the same time and could not be happier with the results. My tub is a bit larger (400 gals.) and my usage is about the same (one person aprox. every other day for 45 mins.) I was going to use the dichlor then bleach method until I saw some info on the Techniclor. I did some research and spoke to someone at the company that makes it and I was convinced. Maintenance could not be easier. I initially would check the water every day but things remained constant. I now do spot checks using test strips, and more thurough test once a week. I also have mine set at three and just leave it there even after a soak. Water is clear no chlorine smell and as mentioned above skin does not seem to dry out as much. My salt level is a little high (3300 ppm). I added 10 cups of pool salt. When I do my next refill I will only use 8 and see how that does.

  3. dont use dichlor/bleach method with a swag system. Foam can be caused by several things, not justs soaps. Body oils and sweat also build up which can cause foam, PH that is out of balance will cause foam as can low CH. What are your readings, how long since the last water change and what is the useage. A clarifier such as sea klear can also halp collect up the unfilterable particles in your filter, thus helping to eliminate foam. Foam down only helps for a day or 2 so I find it a waste of money.

It sounds, since it dissipates so quickly that it may be a water chemistry issue, such as PH, or a build up of materials the filter is not picking up

Thanks HHT. I really don't think I have a problem but I was more curious if this seemed normal with both pumps on high all jets open (90 of 'em) and air injection running. Also nobody in the tub to slow anything down. I doubt that it is a soap problem, as I am the only one using the tub and I am always in commando. It has been about 2 1/2 months since water change, ph=7.6, ch=180, ta=90 salt level=3300 (this is a little high), usage is about every other night for about 30- 45 mins. The foam starts to dissipates almost immediately as you turn off pumps and/or blower, leaving no residue on top of the water but cloudiness in the water which clear as it settles.

  4. I was out doing some routine maintenance on the spa today and turned on both pumps to high and the blower. Didn't take long before I had a lot of foam. Is this to be expected with everything running. With both pumps on low and the blower running I get what seems like an acceptable level considering all the aggitation. With just one pump and blower there is almost no foam. I am using a SWCG if that means anyting. As soon as I turn everything off the foam dissapates.

    TIA

  5. I tried bumping up the chlorine to a high level. Still came home to cloudy water after 4 days. It cleared up fast after shocking with liquid chlorine.

Made the switch to Bromine this weekend.

    Thanks guys!

Have you thought about a SWCG? I started using the Technichlor SWGC about two months ago and couldn't be happier. Took about a week to get the power setting correct but it is working great now. I have not added chlorine in well over a month and a half now and my FC level is always right around 2.5 ppm and water is crystal clear. Once I got the water balanced instead of adding bleach I added 10 cups of pool salt and the SWCG. Here is a link for the Technichlor

  6. I have been using a thermal blanket for 3 weeks now. It always stays on unless I am shocking. It's hard for me to relax while soaking while I see .38cent KWH rolling off the top of the water. Water quality had not been affected by the blanket. I use 3 step bromide, maybe chlorine would be a problem since it off gasses more? My water is crystal clear. I don't even use claifiers.

    Let's here more from others

I too am in Calif. (East Bay). I run my spa in Econ mode because it really doesn't get that cold. In Econ mode the heater only comes on during the filter cycle. I have the filter cycle set for 2Hrs. out of 12. I found that I usually take a soak about the same time in the evening. I then set the filter cycle to come on about 30 to 45 mins. before I get in and turn off about 30 to 45 mins. after I get out. Don't know if it saves anything but at least I am taking advantage of the filter and heating cycle.

  7. Spa God, is there a particular brand that you've seen trouble with? My local Hot Springs dealer says that Technichlor manufactures the system pre-installed on their tubs and their customers love it (of course, what else would a dealer say?). Yzoldman, please do keep us updated. Any one else try Technichlor or Nexa Spa and care to comment?

After adding salt and starting the SWG the other night I took a soak for about 45 mins. Normally I would have added about 1.5 oz of dichlor after that soak to keep CL level up. This time I did nothing. Checked chemistry the next evening and Cl =5, TA=80, PH=7.0, CA=100. Not sure why the drop in PH. Added a little Baking soda about an oz. Today the readings are the same except PH=7.8. Salt concentration is betwwen 2500 to 3000. I have lowered the power level of the SWG and plan on a soak tonight.

Normally if I had not added CL for two days after a soak I would have a Cl of less than 1. So it does appear to be keeping the level up but a little high.

  8. Anyone else care to comment on the after-market chlorine generators since the last post was a year ago? They definitely seem to be increasing in popularity. I've seen Nexa Spa on-line, which looks promising, and my local Hot Springs dealer carries Technichlor. Can anyone vouch for one or the other or give a brief review of their experience using it?

I am in the process of installing one right now. Just added the salt and waiting a little for it to disolve. Hope to have it running in an hour or two,and then I will let everyone know how it goes. The one I am using is the Technichlor. It will probably take a while to see how it works.

  9. I just installed a Magnum 90 about three weeks ago. I was originally going to use pavers or have a cement pad installed. When I contacted some one to have the spa moved when delivered they mentioned the EZ pad. After some research that is what I did. Biggest issue is to make sure the area the spa and pad is going is level. Took about three hours for them to level the area and move the spa. So far no problems and I love the spa.
