  1. Wow!! Everyone thanks for the inpu. I will definately go with the 60 amp. I put in a new 200 amp service when we bought the house so I am set there. My run is about 50 or 60 ft so I'm thinking of going with the #4 but I'm not sure that the lugs will fit #4 I will have to check tomorrow. I will keep you all posted on the progress!!! Tub is sitting here just begging to be run. I have sat in an empty tub everyday since I got it and my wife is starting to look at me funny
  2. Thanks Fetzervalve!! That what I was thinking. Since I am running the wires I will hook it up for 60 amp. I was just unsure about the "minor modification" as the manual calls it. They don't give any info on how to switch it for 60 amp. I live in NY so we do get cold in the winter months. Although my "new to me tub" is a 2002 I would think the modification is pretty much the same as yours. Any chance you could snap a pic of it so I have a reference? Thanks a bunch
  3. Well I actually don't have the tub hooked up yet. That's why I was curious if people find it to be a problem not having the heater being able to work with the pumps. I will be running the wire in the next few days and I have purchased both the 50 and 60 amp disconnects so I could go either way. Problem is I will have to call a technition in to switch the jumper in the control box if I want to go with the 60. Just looking for feedback since this is my first tub.
  4. I'm trying to decide if it is worth having my Optima switched over to 60 amp to be able to run the pumps and heater at the same time, or with normal use, will 50 amp witch does not allow the heater to work when the pumps are on HI be sufficient?
  5. I just picked up a free (from my brother) Sundance Optima. I was reading the electrical requirements in the manual and it states that the unit is shipped for the most common (50 amp 240v) connection but can be switched to 60 amp(to run pumps and heater at the same time) by the Dealer with a minor circuit board modification. Does anyone know what this modification is? and can my electrician do it since I don't want to pay a dealer fee for this if I don't need to. Thanks for the help
  6. I am trying to find the specs on a 02 optima. I looked up the owners manual but didn't see them in there. Most importantly I need the outside dimensions and the dry weight. If you have one or know a website that I could look them up please pass it on. Thanks, Soon to be hot tub owner!!!
  7. That is a good price! Thanks SpaTech all that info is just what I was looking for. Hopefully I will get a look at it this weekend. I will update the board when I see it. Another question is about the cushions and such. If they are in bad shape is it a big deal to replace them? Also I looked up the manual online and it seems as if the actual ozone system is an option. How would I tell if it has that option and if it is working? If it ends up as good as it seems I just need to figure how to get it home
  8. Well I found what I think is a good price($1600) on a 2003 Sundance Optima. It is from the original owner who had it in a covered 3 season porch since they got it. They have sold that house and took it with them(abut 10 mile trip) to there new house which they have realized there isn't enough space for it. Being a bit leary about spending that kind of $ on a tub that I can't see functioning(not currently filled) I decided to pass. Well the guy called me up today and said if I was really interested he would fill it and temporarily hook it up so I could see it working. So now what should I be concerned with when I take a look at it?
  9. Thanks Shovel! I actually was looking at the 345 because I didn't really feel the need for the lounger but he is offering it for the same price and looking at the brochure it has the same foot space so I might go for it!!
  10. So I'm into my 3 month of looking at everything hot tub. I've looked at used and new, just about every brand. Tried a few different models and really liked all of them. So now it has just come down to $ and what extras I can get for that $. I've narrowed it down to the two what I think are the best deals but I would like all of your inputs as well. The Jacuzzi package is this: J-355, pearl finish and chestnut cabinet, cover, lifter, steps, start-up chemicals delivered for $7100+tax. The Bullfrog package is 462 Blue shell with redwood cabinet, my choice of jet paks, led and perimeter lights, cover, lifter, steps and start up chemicals delivered for $7399+tax. Let me hear all your thoughts and suggestions on the brands as well as the deals! Thanks
