  1. Its all about the plumbing. If you take the 6bhp pump and discharge the water thru a 1 inch pipe you will get a considerly lower flow than if the water was pumped thru a 2 and a half inch line. If you really want to know the flow you need to know the head of the system and look at the pump cure. I only know of a few spas that are plumbed with 2 and a half inch plumbing. Pacific spas was one but they didnt make it thru the ressesion. Personally I think the XP 3 pump is the best and most efficent out there. If you look at the pump curve it wont even pump if the plumbing is poor(a high head)

  2. The only issue I have had is the availablity of parts if you are in Canada. They don't have as strong of a dealer network in Canada as in the US. I believe that it is better to stick to the brands that are made in the counrty of origin. The dealer networks and supply of parts/service are better

How is shipping from California to Ohio much different than shipping from California to Ontario? Maybe it'll take another day or two to get there but other than that a US manufacturer should be able to support their Canadian dealers just as well as their US dealers and I don't see a languague barrier (we've seen Strange Brew, we know how to speak Canadian). If someone said you shouldn't buy Arctic or Beachcomber in the States for the same reason I'd scratch my head at that too. Of course the strength of your dealer is key in all situations.

I think all Hotsprings parts and equipment are proprietary which means the big component manufactures make parts especially for the spa manufacture and wont sell to anybody outside the dealer network. This is a problem if there is not a local dealer around to help you in a winter emergency because you local spa repair man cant get parts at a good price.

    Correct me if im wrong

  3. I'm very disappointed in our slab. It's not very level with a 3 inch swale (width wise, maybe 1/4 inch deep, give or take) running just off the left edge and a few other low (or high, depending on your perspective) spots throughout the slab. I expected it to be perfectly level, but such is not the case. My guess is that some of the concrete funneled out in some cracks in the stone below the ground or something of the like. My contractor is coming back out to look at it today. He made mention of adding some mortar something or other in the low spots. I'm going to ask him to pour another inch of concrete over the pad to even it out, though don't know how this will mesh with the original pad or if it will carry the strength of the slab below it. The low spots within the slab are probably ok, but the left edge is an issue certainly for potential drainage and maybe even for the integrity of the corner of the tub. It's less than a 1/2 inch, but deep enough for water to pool in the low spots. Annoyed with this spotty work....

Have him remove it if your not happy. An inch of concrete is a bad idea. Concrete should always be 4 inches think.

  4. Yes gekco is a big Company.

Pacific hopefully will not disappear. The bank HSBC in the united states is causing all the problems. Filing for bankrupcy allows compannies time to regroup and refinance. A lot of people work at Pacific. lets hope it all works out.

Somebody said it earlier about textron pulling out. A lot of manufactures are going to have a hard time moving thier spas out this year.

  5. We are in the final planning stages of our new pool & spa. My wife has seen a no chemicals system called Ecosmarte. Does anyone know or have one. What do you think?? We are totally undecided between chlorine, salt of this 'no chemicals' system. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks B)

If you live in Canada it is illegal to say your product replaces bromine or chlorine, it can only assist it.You must use chloine or bromine.

Salt water pools and chlorine are the same thing. Salt is sodium cloride
