  1. This Costco Aquaterra Eterntiy is a great spa at this price. I personally don't know how anybody can make any money (manufacture) at this price. That is taking into consideration carrying the warranty. Ultimately it will be the consumers problem. I would look at it as $2400.00 for a hot tub that if would got 5 yrs out of is $500.00 a year. Not that expensive for a luxury item.

As for Nordic, great line up of tubs and good customer service.

    All my opinion

  2. This is why it is important to also research the retailer who also sells you the product. You can have the best product in the world but with BAD SERVICE it taints the product. Most Spa Manufactors do little background checking into there dealers. Unlike the car industry which rates the dealers independently for service.

  3. Well, it's correct and wrong at the same time - im reffering to the European warranty.

It might be different in the US and Canada - I didn't think of that... sorry! But...

In the European warranty it says : "Warranty applies to original purchaser only and is NOT transferable. Date of shipping refers to the date that the product was shipped from Hydropool Industries". This in my opinion is not fair since a normal customer won't know the shippingdate - but thats just my personal opinion. But if we just compare the warranties in years - the Marquis for instance has a 10/7/5 and the Hot Spring on some models have the same as Marquis Spas. Some manufacturers have different length of warranties depending on the size, prize etc on the model. Its a good thing to check these things before buying. Hydropool sounds like they have a decent warranty in the US / Canada - but not in Europe.

Regarding leaks : Ha ha - I won't deny a thing that logical. Of course they get leaks in time... Just like the engine in a car won't last forever regardless of quality (!). But the better the quality is and the better it is built, the longer it lasts. Same goes with hot tubs - and the Thermal insulated hot tubs usually have leaks more often and earlier in life, because of the weaker support of the plumbing and jets. But don't get me wrong - I wouldn't be affraid of buying a Hydropool - I would just choose something else in that pricecategory if it was my choice! I feel there are better products with better quality, better warranty and better finish at the market. And the thermal insulated hot tubs is not as energyefficient as good full foamed hot tub... All tho I don't expect any salesman from - lets say Hydropool or Arctic Spas to admit that, since they both try to make the thermal insulation sound more effective than a full foamed :)

Agree with many points. Not sure of the European warranty, being a Canadian Dealer.

  4. hmmmmmmmmmmm, and this sounds like a competing salesman :D

    Breeze

totally wrong information. Warranty is from the date that the dealer enters in the sales on there sales form, then mailed into Hydropool. Serenity Spa's come with a 10/5/3 year warranty. Three years against all leaks and main compentent failure.

Warranties are transferable for $99.00. As for leaks...all Spas get leaks and if you deny this you haven't sold that many hot tubs.

Seems that you getting some misinformation. I have also sold Beachcomber,Marquis and Jacuzzi. It is the individuals behind the company.

  5. I am trading in a 1997 Tiger River that I got for free and put 300.00 into and it could need a lot more work. I met with a dealer in Florida and have two options in my price range. I can get a brand new 2008 Hydropool 5000 for 4900.00 with everything except the upgraded lights and stereo or I could get a 2007 Marquis Destiny for the same price with the Genesis Bromine System and remote control. Everyone is saying the year old Marquis since its bigger and the quality is superb but just wanted to check. Thanks to anyone who responds.

    Later

    Brian

As a Spa service company with 20 years experience

I would also take the Marquis with the Bromine System if it is the same price.

  6. hey all

    shopping for a new/used tub.

we've owned one tub - a Royal-Royalle but lost that when we moved.

finally shopping for another tub but a new tub is so pricey and the dealers are just so-so.

have looked at Great Lakes, Sundance, Dimension one, and Hot Springs.

the hot springs Envoy, Sovereign, and Vanguard are all pretty nice.

i've found a used envoy but it's going on 5 years old - which is the end of the warranty.

its the top model with stereo and wireless remote, but the cover is heavy and the lifters are broken.

i wet tested it and it's plenty nice and the owners seem sincere

they showed me the bill and it was about $11k on Feb 2005, though it was an '04 floor model. they're asking $3900.

also found a used '06 Vanguard (no options) for $5500 (private party)

or a new (display model) Sovereign is $7600.

what's too old for a hot tub?

should I have a service person look the tub over really well before making a decision?

should i call every dealer in the surrounding area to try and find a deal on a closeout model?

or wait a bit longer for someone to go out of business with the recession?

shopping is just so much fun.

    thanks for your expertise.

Anything over 2-3 years old buying used you are asking for trouble. You can get a new ,good quality tub for between $5000 - $7500 with lots of good features on it and warranty.Buy from someone that has gone out of business isn't the best way to go. Some manufactors may warranty after the dealer has gone out of business , but you will be waiting for a long time. I will give you an example of a new tub that you can get. A Hydropool Hot Tub out of Canada which can be purchased in the US or from a Canadian dealer 80' x 80" stereo system, 30 jets (lots) maintenaince free cabinet ,garden F/X lights , step ,lifter, chemicals any colour available $7000 (Can) 10/5/3 year warranty.

  7. I'm researching a new spa to replace my tired old Maax spa. the top three tubs that i've looked at/researched that are sold in my immediate area are: Arctic, Bullfrog and Sunrise/Paragon.

I like the full frame and composite cabinet of the Bullfrog and Paragon spas. Acrtic seems to rely totally on foam sprayed on the cabinet to hold everything together. Is this a valid concern?

Also not a fan of the cedar cabinet after having one. not looking for more maintenance.

I like the physics behind the Heat Lock system of the Arctic, Paragon uses a variation of it but uses bags of roxul insultaion around the perimeter which i would think would be succeptible to settling over time.

Bullfrog's claim of being able to move jet paks around may sound like a gimmick and one would question how often you would move the paks around. i would question this as well but the benefit as i see it would be to set the seats up as you like it. i use my current tub 5+ nights a week and 80-90% of the time i'm alone so having the jet pak i like where i like would allow me to only open half the cover. however if i go to bullfrog's website and design a spa even with the largest pump configuration (2x 4.8HP) by the time you add 5 or 6 jet packs the power rating drops below "optimal".

I have yet to wet test any of these tubs, just wondering if anyone could substantiate any claims from either of these manufacturers so i could narrow down the search.

Thanks in advance for any advice or opinion(s).

If you have a Hydropool Hot Tub dealer in your area ,take a look, You can't find a better built Hot Tub and Honest fair company. www.hydropoolhottubs.com I have dealt against Arctic and Bullfrog and can tell you lots about both. You are correct in the Bullfrog jetpacks being a gimmick and the Arctic insulation system has some value and also some negatives. The Hydropool Hot Tub incorporates a little of this insulation and then also there own patented system.

  8. I just got quotes for a new Nordic Crown II and a Hydropool model 4000 Gold for about 4000.00 with everything (steps, chem, warranty, cover). What do you guys and gals know about these? Are they worth it or do they have issues? I have a 97 Tiger River Bengal that needs about 1000.00 worth of work and was considering a trade as they will take 700.00 not working towards a new spa. I need all the advice I can get. Thanks

I have dealt with Hydropool Spas out of Canada for the past 16 years. If you are getting a M4000 Gold series for under or around $4000 you are getting a get deal and not over paying. This company stands behind its warranty and will even go a little past to service the customer. It is built to last and operating costs are nominal. They are a big company, but deal with individual customers. I personally am in contact with the owner every few days and he is a upstanding person. His goal is to get problems solved, build the best Hot Tub and he doesn't pass the buck. You will not go wrong dealing with Hydropool.

As for the Nordic Crown ,they actually don't make this unit. They redistribute it , but stand behind it. Personally I have sold over 500 of tHese units in the last 10 years. The M 4000 Gold is the beter buy.
