Estimates where based on a paid report done by a firm for a management buyout that I was able to get a hold of. Jacuzzi/Sundance and Hot Spring/Caldera where grouped as one I believe because they are manufactured by the same company.
This was also based on number of dealers....

Good luck with that..Dreamaker is terrible for service , they have also been sold to Canadian Sunrise Spas if I am correct

At that price , you do have lots of choice. Remember , Hot Tub sales are down 60 % from 2007-2008 .
You should be able to get a better deal. Charging a extra $100 for upgrade in cover lifter is "Mickey Mouse" at this price
Most dealers don't realize that it isn't only the initial sale , it is all the ongoing money that they would generate in referrals , chemicals , accesories etc....
If you don't have a steadsy stream of customers coming into your store ...you are out of business eventally

Retail price is $ 8999 without any discounts. I would also take a look at Hydropool Serenity 7000 Platinum or H625 LE ( I have sold a few ) and any other Canadian BrandS in the area

No , I understood you . Twelve hrs to heat 500 gals up from 40 - 104 degrees at 5.3 degrees per hour is awesome especially with a 5.5 kw heater .
I was just giving the initial cost to heat and remember that I wasn't stating it was a Arctic Spa , just a normal tub with 5.5 Kw Heater

Since no one answered my question about how long to heat a Arctic Spa from 40 to 104 , I have researched it myself and the numbers apply to any spa with a 5.5 Kw heater. In Ontario in Dec the average time was 16.75 Hrs with is 3.82 degrees per hour.
This would draw 6.556 kilowatts x 16.75 hrs = 109.813 kilowatts x .09 ( Average of time of use prices ) = $ 9.883
plus Delivery , Regulatory Charges , Debt Retirement , HST ( which in total averages about 100 % of your actual energy consumption )
This tub would cost $ 9.883 x 2 = $ 19.766 to heat up initially.
So , $ 30 to $ 40 a month is unrealistic.......

Next question , In the Parry Sound area , which is Northern Ontario , how long would it take for a Arctic Spa to heat up to 104 from 40 degree water in January ?
Lets say it is a Tundra . Any Arctic dealers out there care to help out ?

Agree that it can't be $ 450.00
I live two hrs North of Parry Sound and our rates are rising quickly. We now have peak hydro rates , where it costs more to operate during the daytime. Rates are almost going to triple !
On another note , I am luck enough ( Ya ! )to also own an electrical contracting company and a swimmming pool and spa store for over 35 yrs. I do know just a little about Hydro. We sell Hot Tubs , repair all makes and models. I have had a habit , when units come in for repair we have a separate meter to test with.
I have had Arctic Spas in my Shop running indoors for up to two weeks....... the numbers don't lie , but they do run less than some other tubs....just much more than $30-$40 a month all inclusive

Ya !!! started changing all my bulbs from 40 & 60 W to the more energy ones , next is unplug the beer fridge !

$ 30-$40 a month is impossible... come on !! It cost $ 30 a month if you leave a light bulb on in your house for a month. It is pretty easy to do a quick calculation on energy costs by just plugging in some numbers .

Pump @ Low Speed with heater( 4kw ) on 21.07 Amps

Amps x Voltage = Watts
Watts/1000 = kilowatts/hour
Current cost of electricity : .064
Estimated Spa Usage with
6 Hrs filter cycle low speed , no heat 4.4 Amps
.5 Hrs at High Speed with heat on 28.67 Amps
2 Hrs Low speed , spa heating
At this current useage and rate , it would cost $1.29 per day.....without transmission , taxes , debt retirement
Still even thou I am not a big Arctic Spa fan , they don't build a bad tub , and it wouldn't cost $ 450.00 a month to run.....
Just wish that people would be realistic with there claims

I bought new Arctic Spa - Model Midnight Sun - installed on 1st Dec 10. The Hydro consumption since jumped 3 times plus. The Spa has not been in use at all, since it is in a cottage. Bill for three months to Jan 2011 was $1,557 as compared to $500 for the same period last year. I have have sent a question to the dealer but no response yet.
Wondering what is causing this. The place is Parry Sound, ON, where the temperature at night have fallen upto -16C or 3F. Is there any setting I or the installers have missed? I have kept the Temp to 98F (37C). Can this be moved down?
Any help is appreciated.

While there are other more effecient options for a tub idle like your situation there is no way your tub caused the entire increase. In your temps 60-80 a month wouldn't be out of the question and maybe more with initial heat up but not 400 or so as stated. There's other things going on. A small low watt circulation pump may have been a better option.

It really is simple , go with what you feel more comfortable with. The 200 mile distance would be enough for me to pay $ 800 more not less. If you like the local dealer and he has a good reputation in your area , then Clearwater is the way to go.
On another note , these top 10 lists aren't worth the key stokes or paper that they are written on. Advertise and pay and promote and you will get on the list.

Has anybody heard of that is going on with the Arctic Spa Oakville Grp ? They are a chain of 7 stores that just picked up the Jacuzzi line. This seems a little confusing unless they are going split floor.
Several Jacuzzi dealers in the GTA have been told that in 30 days they will no longer be Jacuzzi dealers and that they have to look for another line.
Heard or rumour that Arctic has stopped paying warranty claims. Looking for information
