John
You can order any size pump you need from spaguts.com. Cost is anywhere from around $200 to $250 depending on your specs.

Thanks Joel !
I got a little curious and poked around with the pumps, I switched out the power from pump 2 to pump 1 and it works.
so it looks like it is a fuse or circuit board........hope its the fuse !
I will pick up a pair on my way home tomorrow night and see how it goes...........thanks !

Well I got my 60 degree day on Sunday !!
Water changed and balanced.........all set to go till Spring !

Hmm No kidding, I didnt notice he was from RHTubs and a Mod........Good to know !
I love my spa cap, must say its easy to keep the cover clean !!

You could try taking the inside insert out and flipping it over and see if it helps.
Call who ever you purchased it from if it doesnt help and have them replace it.

I ordered the floating blanket from RHTUBS on Monday. Have not received it yet, but we live in Vermont, so I expect it will take some time to get here.
Sounds like it's best to cut the blanket and have lay on the surface. What is the best way to cut this blanket, so it fits snug? Any special cutters required? Also, is there any noticeable difference in how much heat loss you have after putting this blanket on? Any improvement from prior to having the blanket on?
My blanket arrived last night, seems like its going to do well.I ran the jets on high and it did not move at all !
Also got a Spa Cap from RHTubs too, it is like a Heavy duty tarp with an elastic
cinch that goes around the whole tub.
Certainly will keep the snow off the cover and not blow into the woods !
John
I ordered mine on a Monday as well, it showed up on the following wednesday.
The cover will be folded up in a box, so you will need to let it flatten out a bit before cutting.
I just opened the tub and layed it in covered it back up for about 2 hours.
After that I used a pair of scissors to cut it in, I left it a little over so I can trim it up better when its
not so windy and cold.
Hard to say how much its doing , It seems like there is less steam coming out of the tub but I dont have any
numbers to really say how much better.
Just seeing how when the cover is open there is no steam rising out....none at all when I was cutting it...it has to be working

Very Nice....Nice View of the lake too !
If your a skier you going to love hitting the tub after a couple of hours on the lake !

I am about 10 feet from the tub, its on a deck so when its windy its not fun !

Ok,, its actually a little past the time frame to change the water,, but winter came early in the NE.. and We have had 10-20 below normal temps.. We have had a foot of snow before Halloween this year and its hardy been above freezing since.. about 2 inches of blowing snow out there now.. How safe is it to do the water change with temps this low?
I usually watch the 15 day forcast on Accuweather.......and look for the warmest day !
Its looking like the 10th will be close to 60 in southern NH, might be your lucky day !
As long as its above 32 I will do it, Christmas week usually gives a warm day or just before New Years....at least in my area !
Sounds like your further north than me though !

Don't waste your money on a ThermoFloat Spa Blanket. I only purchased this in the first place because the retailer discontinued the brand I was using. I have had 3 of them, the 3rd a free replacement because I complained: I was so frustrated that my 2nd corroded just as quickly as my first. Although it has a 1-year guarantee, this thing gets waterlogged in about 2 months, and the ozone corrosion/tearing starts in 3 months. Do use a blanket, but not this one.The blanket mentioned above is only 1/8" thick. Being so thin and light weight it's going to have a tendency to bunch-up, as already described. A thicker, 1/4" blanket will not bunch up and will provide all the benefit they're designed for.
Gotta agree with other posters about the 1/8 inch thick blanket. We bought one and it bunched up easily and started to tear within a few months. We now have a 1/4 inch thick one that we bought from rhtubs.com. No bunching up, no tearing. It cost more but the extra cost was definitely worth it!

Oh man I was getting nervous from reading this thread !
Thanks Sandi !
I just ordered mine from RHTubs last night and I also got the spa cap.
I hope it helps !

I do the tarp method as well, just throw it on when Im expecting snow and the clean up it Way easier and I
dont have to drag the shovel across the cover and risk scratching it !

How did you make out with the Blanket from Home Depot ?
I am thinking of getting one too....My D1 dealer quoted me $250 for one.
So I passed on that but found one here for $59....http://www.rhtubs.com/store/float.htm
I may go with it..

hey guys,
this afternoon after i got home i noticed my winter pool cover had fallen in. i'm using the waterbag type cover. At the moment if just backwashing the extra water that went into the pool because the water is above the jets. The jets are all plugged with the plastic type plug what should i do to make sure mt pipes dont freeze??
thx for any help
jonrib.
When you say fallen in, does it look like there is still water in the pool ?
I live in New Hampshire and last season my wife called when I was at work telling me the same thing.
"Hey the cover fell into the pool" I got this real sinking feeling and Kinda guessed at what happened
I hope Im wrong here but I lost my liner last year, completely emptied the pool in February
Really Sucked the big one ,and Im praying it doesnt happen this year !

Coming up on 2 Trouble free months with using Chlorine....... Thank's to Everyone here !
I started off using the Dichlor , just like ChemGeek suggested and shortly switched over to Bleach.
Been adding bleach after exiting the tub every night and using the Renew once a week.
I have been adding some Dichlor, but only once say within a 2 week period at night.
Going on 2 months now with the cleanest tub I have ever had, its squeaky clean.....No smells
and no irritations.
I just hope switching my pool in the spring goes so well !
Thanks ChemGeek for all of you help !

Hi Richard
Hey I am into week 3 with Chlorine and LOVING it, my Tub feels so clean Amazing !
I switched over the Bleach right around the beginning of the second week and all is well.
Still havent purchased a test kit but am using the strips I originally purchased, should be getting the kit
shortly...Been busy with the holiday stuff ! But anyway I have been testing my PH with the Drops every other day and it is staying pretty consistant.
So my Question is....you always say to leave the tub uncovered when you add cholorine to help the gasses get out
I am in the North East....Its wicked cold out and I would rather not leave it uncovered that long when Im not in it
Will the Gases harm the cover, there always seems to be steam coming out of the seams so will that be enough ?
Thanks all of your help !

Hi Richard
Thank you for both of your detailed responses to my posts.
I appreciate the time you took to answer my questions.
I think my tub is on its way too being normal....
I now have to think about getting a decent test kit, if you have one you can recommed
that would be great !
Thanks Again !

OK tested the water this morning it looks GREAT.
Only thing that showed up was the Stablizer was low.
So this is the CYA Right ? and this would be the shock/ renew ??

I have decided to purchase a D1 Californian. My local terrritory dealer is quoting me about $8600. I have found an ex-D1 dealer in the next state over selling his 9 remaining tubs much cheaper. They are supposedly new and unused, but were displayed on his showroom floor prior to terminating the line and his dealership. He is selling the same tub for $6000. I contacted D1 tech support directly and they said that they will honor the full 5 year warranty on the ex-dealers tubs.
I will be on my own if I purchase from the out of state dealer for coordinating service calls, etc as I'm certain that my local D1 dealer will tell me to go pound sand should I have any issues.
Any recommendations out there? $2600 is a lot of $$.
Thanks.
I would think your Local dealer will service you, warranty right ? they still get paid so I would go for it
And they will get your business for chemicals and acessories....well you can tell them that !
I think they would have too if they are a dealer, ask D1 about it.
Yes $2600 would make me do it !
I have a D1 Diplomat, only time I have had service was for a Bad control panel.
It has been replaced about 3 times since owning it in 03.
You might have to wait a little if they are busy but I would take the chance.
Thats my $.02 !!

I feel your pain!!!! Our dealer sold us a pre filter that screws on the end of your garden hose. It did help quite abit. Imo We like the ph around 7.2 Something we started doing a little over a year ago is just fill the spa from our swimming pool. We use the same chemicals in both and do not cover the pool all winter. good luck steve
This sounds good, you could probably get one at Home Depot or Hardware store.
I have a prefilter on my well, mostly for sediment but I did get a good filter for it this time
and some of them will reduce or remove metals.
My well never had metal issues until just recently, I guess they can change over time.

Apparently you needed more sanitizer to kill whatever was growing in there! Are you testing for free chlorine?
Yes I am, I have the test strips.....cant say I am a big fan of them but its getting me in the ballpark.
I would like a get a real test kit , probably will look into that.
Well this morning it looks great, just a slight waterline scum that wiped off easily.
Everything on the strip was Within range so it looks good
I am going to switch out my filters to a new / clean set and try it out tonight.
Hopefully its all better !!!
Must have had some funk in the lines from the Baquacil
Oh anyone using the Natures 2 cartriges ???
How are they, worth it or not ?
John

Totally Bizzare !
I added another dose of Chlorine and shock, covered it and went out for the day.
Came back and the water was almost clear, just a scum line around the edges that I wiped off but other than
that it looks 90% better....Go figure !
OK so I am replying to my own posts...but its making me feel better !

Update.....Tub is Cloudy Yellow and I have this Yellow stuff floating in the foam.
Not looking too good !

I just went in and had my water tested from a fresh fill.
I had the Ph down to almost normal level and had already added the metal remover before testing (last night).
All was OK, Water balanced with the only exception was the my ph was slightly high..so had to add 1 ounce of Ph down.
This is the first time for me using Chlorine, so I added what they told me 1 once of Chlorine and 2 1/2 ouces of shock.
I ran the tub for 30 minutes with the cover opened and now its cloudy and had some yellow stuff in the foam.
I dont think this is normal.....any ideas ??
