  1. Hello,

We have a 3 year oldt880 which was working fine until the end of last summer when it seemed as if the Spa was not heating properly. We drained the Spa and left it through the Winter, now that the weather is warmer and we have 'time' we are trying to get it up and running again.

We filled the Spa up, replaced the filter, and turned on the breaker... Everything seemed to be going fine. It said ICE and showed the Heating icon.

After 20 minutes I checked it again, this time the LCD was flashing everything... Seems as if every component on the LCD screen would randomly flash... The Jets were turning on and off....

I went and cut the power... Waited a hour, tried it again....

This time it showed ICE / FLO / COLD. I tried diagnosing the FLO error but before I could spend much time on it, the LCD started flashing randomly again and the jets were turning on and off.....

I can't seem to find any information on this problem... I'm not sure what its related to.. First I thought Flow Switch, now I am thinking PC board?

    Ideas?

Any help would be much appreciated.

    Thanks!!

  2. Chlorine does burn off quickly. You cannot add dichlor regularly enough to maintain a residual. That is one of the downsides.

Contrary to the opinions of others, the Nature2 sticks with MPS or chlorine, used properly are effective. In fact, the sustem is one of the few EPA approved systems in the industry.

Yepp.. I use it and havent had a problem. Water is always crystal clear and no odor. No its not as powefull of Chlorine but the whole reason tor using it is because its NOT.

I am very allergic to Chlorine, thats why I use it. Less Chlorine = Better.

    I keep a .5-1 residual of Chlorine.

  3. Waterbear,

I am using Nature2 with Dichlor only. No MPS. I would like to keep the Free Chlorine level between 3 and 5PPM. How do I accomplish this? I would like to shock the tub (480 gallons with Ozonator) once a week and add in the dichlor after I use it each time. But, it seems like the chlorine level drops fast. I just added 3 tsps 2 nights ago and got the Free Chlorine to 3 PPM. I did not use the tub and now, less than 48 hours later, the Chlorine level is back to 0PPM. I had to add in more Dichlor to raise the level of chlorine before I could use it tonight. I don't want to have to add in chlorine each time before I use it.

I don't mind adding it in each time I get out.

    Any suggestions would be appreciated!

Just follow the directions on the Nature2 website. You can use dichlor instead of MPS. I belive its .5 teaspoon every time you get in. Go to the website and do the math for your spa size.

I use MPS during the week. If I have many ppl in the spa I use .5 teaspoon of dichlor aswell as the MPS. Once a week I shock with 1.5 Tablespoon of dichlor. This is with a nature 2 cartrige. You dont have to keep a 3-5ppm... I would keep about 1-2 since nature 2 only needs and reccomends .5 to .7ppm.

Why are you using so much chlorine with nature2? its suppost to help you get away from using so much. You could just use about 5ppm and get rid off the nature2 cartrige.

  4. My dealer reccomends spa 56 with has about 40% chlorine in it. But he is about a hour away and all I can get right now is spa guard chlorinaded concentrate which has 99% chlorine in it.

    Is this ok?

Which is better to use with Nature2. The guy at Nature2 on the phone said to use the one with the most chlorine.

In addition I just found out a local guy has something called Ultimate which is a dichlor with ph balancer and has 36% of chlorine in it. I belive it is similar to the spa 56.

  5. The small 30 gram N2 really doesn't do much. Use the non chlorine shock before use with it and use a tablespoon of dichlor a couplel of times a week after you get out. The chlorine will be gone when you use it the next day.

The N2 cartrige says its 98 grams. Its a special N2 cartrige specifically for Sundance spa's. It clips in around the filter area.

What exactly is dichlor? I was under the impression it was the same as chlorine...?

Can you give me some examples of a non-chlorine shock?

Also I have city water which has chlorine in it. Will this effect how much chlorine I should put in it in the initial "fill up"??

  6. Hey guys,

I was planning to fill my spa up today when I realized the Leisure Time startup kit my dealer gave me and the Sundance SunPurity Nature2 cartridge my dealer gave me, don't mention each other at all.

    The Nature2 website found at:

    http://www.nature2.com/spas2.asp

Says to use Non-chlorine oxidizer (potassium peroxymonosulfate)* and some other things that don't seem to be in the Leisure Time kit.

I am sensitive to chemicals and allergic to chlorine, this is why I decided to go with Nature2 since I don't need as much chlorine.

My question to you is does the Leisure Time kit have the things I need (just with different brand names) to use with the Nature2 cartridge? I plan to use the spa heavily at least in the beginning, just about every night before bed with 2-3 people.

I have the Sundance Altamar 880 series spa which I believe has a .3 micron filter in it.

I also noticed the Leisure Time kit revolves around Bromine but Nature2 says NOT TO USE BROMINE.

Any recommendations on what to do? Closest dealer is hour and a half away, I wonder if Wal-Mart sells some of the things I need such as chlorine?

What should I do! I wish everything could just be simple :)

    Thanx in advance.

  7. I recently purchases a Sundance Cayman. It also was not suppose to run everthing on the 50 amp setting, at least according to the owners manual. But when I installed it, it ran pumps and heat at the same time.

    Go figure

My manual is for teh 880 series so no mention about the cayman... But will it run all at once with the pumps on high??

The 880 series also has an additional blower.

  8. Hey guys,

I have decided to put my spa on 60A vs the 50A Factory setting.

I was told all I had to do was move a jumper around, but I cannot seem to find out which jumper! I want everything to be able to run at once.

Anyone out there know for sure? or even better, has anyone done this?

Electrical is all ready to go, just waiting on this jumper!!

Brand New Sundance Altamar 880 series.

  9. You are correct the heaters will not function with both pumps on high speed with 50A service. My advice would be to bite the bullet now, save yourself some frustration later and change to 60A. On a cold winters night in N. Carolina you will want the heater to work while you are using the spa with boths pumps running on high. Personally I would not run the blower a long time when it gets really cold, it tends to lower the water temperature pretty fast. Give yourself a quick air blast session then turn it off.

The manual says nothing about running the blower. It says two pumps on high. It would be nice if If I run them on high with the heater and just forget about the blower as you said.

Can any sundance owners with the 800 series or even better, the Altamar confirm if I can run both pumps on high without the blower and the heater? If not what about both pumps on low/medium?

  10. Well, the spa comes from Sundance as 50A (Optimal) since most people set it up with 50A service.

The electrician came when no one was here and hooked it up with 50A since thats what the documentation said it was setup as. He did not know we wanted 60A or even that it was capable of taking 60A.

It's quite a nice spa and I like the blower in the wet tests, also with the fregrance :)

It would be easier to go to 60A now than it would later... But its still going to cost about $250.

  11. Hey guys,

Just had my spa hooked up but it turns out somehow they didnt get the message that I wanted it hookup up with 60A. They said there was a note in the spa saying that it was setup for 50A so thats what they did.

Talking to the service tech it turns out there is a little pin that can be moved to set the spa up for 60A, the only problem is the electrician is going to have to replace the GFI with a 60A and we will have to unscrew some decking.

My question to you is, is it really necessary to go with 60A? I am worried about the winter when we have a few people in the spa (staying in for longer since its cold out) and having both pumps on. We are in North Carolina and our winters are not that cold, but still it gets chilli.

THe manual says the heater will not operate if both pumps are on high, it does not mention anything about the blower. What happends if I have both pumps on high and the blower? If I have both pumps on high and 4 people in the spa in winter will I notice the spa getting cold?

    Thanks in advance!

  12. Thanx for the input... we ended upgetting the Altamar with the Cameo as a close second... We liked the one size bigger for an additional $800.

The spa getts pretty strong jets... supposedly more than the hot springs since they dont have pass throughs... I dont care about a LOT of power. If I had more time and money I may have looked harder at hot springs.

  13. We are building our deck and have decided to build the spa into the deck. To do this we are building its own support structure. a 4x4 in each corner and a 6x6 in the middle, they will be concreated into the ground. This spa is about 4,032 lbs • 1,829 kg filled. Its the sundance Altamar...

what do you tihnk about that guys??

  14. We were looking at the Bahia but ended up going with the Altimar..

I talked my dealer down to $6000 including a years worth of chemicals, Cd ozinator, cover lifter, and delivery.

Not sure what the exchange rate is, and they may cost most in Canada since I belive they are manufacturered in the US.
