  1. I tried following the bubbles but all of the sides of the tub are insolated so i icant access them. It just seems to happen as soon as i turn the jets off there is a rush of bubbles that go into the circ pump ( in the direction of water flow). It air locks the pump so it shuts off and comes back on when the bubbles escape. But it will trip the hi limit if the heater is on when this occurs as no water is running through the heater.
  2. The bubbles rush in on the main inlet line to the circ pump. Go through the check valve and into the pump which causes it to stop and start 2-3 times while it clears thenair out into the tub.
  3. Is there another check valve the sucks air that i am not seeing by chance?
  4. Do you know if the hartford valve on the righ side of the bay would lead to anything that can generate this symptom? Its behind the corner that is not openable
  5. i swapped out the other check valve as well. still doing the same thing when the jets are turned off.... a rush of bubbles comes into the inlet line on the circ pump which causes it to stop and start a few times to clear them i presume. seems like the jets are making some sort of air lock when they get turned off. any ideas?
  6. one thing that i did notice is that the hartford loop on the right side of the access area does seem to be discolored a bit. i took it out and cleaned it and it seems to be working. Any chance that the check valve on that could be part of the issue? i can always swap it for the one i just repalced. I am not really sure if it is in anway linked with the pump issue
  7. replaced the check valve and still doing the same thing i also took the filter out while doing this just in case. the circ pump seems to work right up until i turn the jets off. then it stops working and tries to re-cycle on which takes about 1 minute, which will trip the hi-limit if the heater is on. when everything is on "including the jets" it seems to work as it should. But when i turn the last set of jets off is when there is a rush of bubbles down the pipe towards the circ pump which is when it cuts out and it sounds like it tries to keep going, but it trips the internal thermal switch usually 1 or two times before it goes back on. any other ideas?
  8. I don't see any water leaking from any of the pumps, jets or bottom of the spa, so i don't think it would be that, but i will check that when i am in there to see.
  9. I have done that in the past and it seems to help, but the filter is brand new, so i would imagine it might be something constricting the flow through the check valve into the pump/heater.
  10. I did see that they only run about 10 bucks. Do they where out over time where they just stick closed?
  11. I believe i do see it close when the jets are on, but seems like it might not be opening on its own right away with the water pressure. i didn't see any debris before it either. But, shouldn't the circ pump still be running with the jets on if i am on 220v since the heater will still be on and that is located after the circ pump? one issue i have had for a while was if i ran the jets and the heat was running it would trip the hi-limit since no water is running through the pump
  12. I believe I know the piece you are talking about... about 2" long right before the circ pump? do they just get stuck over time? I assume they are supposed to stay open when the jets are on and are supposed to catch debris.
  13. I just replaced my original silnetflo5000 last night with the new e5. I believe my hot tub is set on 220 as it uses both the 30 and 20 amp breakers -my question is this: Everything seems to be working ok on the pump and heater and jets. My issue is that when I turn off the jets the circ pump seems to take about 30 seconds to 2 minutes to start putting out water and bubbles again. This occasionally causes the hi limit to trip. I replaced the hi-limit thermistor in case that was the issue, but it still occurs. I believe that this has something to do with jet 2, because when i put my hand in the filter area, i can feel the pressure from the circ pump lower or stop when jets 2 are on. this issue has even caused the hi limit to trip when using jets 2 if the temp is set high enough for the heater to kick on. Not sure what this would be a symptom of and I have been looking around for an answer for quite some time now. any help would be appreciated.
