I have an ozonator and bromine hot tub system (tabs etc) and have read the advice to shock weekly (I used chorine). Also read if your system works well and maybe usage is low...shocking might not be needed. I wonder if anyone has info on how you know the level of builtup organics and when to shock accordingly or this just a rule of thumb?? I also understand that this is NOT sanitation which the system does as long as there is enough free bromine. I'm a nubbie so thanks. MJK

I have a question as to how to know WHEN to shock your hot tub??? I have a new 350 gal Costco tub with ozonator and bromine system (tabs etc) in place. I'm using this 3-4x week one person plus add a group of 6 once in awhile. I have stufff balanced but Ph maybe a little high. Strips a little chancey..just got a new taylor kit. I really do not want to shock (using chlorine now) unless I must. How do you know re the organics in there? I'm reading that organic reduction is different than the sanitation. Any tips would be appreciated!And Ii can't really figure out how to post under chemistry w/o using reply!!! Tnk MJK
