  1. I don't know about a grand a year. I just took down a 12x24 /saltwater. I installed a 2hp pump and a oversize sand filter. I don't think it really cost that much to run it according to my electric bill. The only thing I did was shock it once a week. The water chems stayed fine.Back to the topic. I was also thinking of buying one of those gorilla pads for the root protection. I also want to dig out some of the yard to reset this pool. It's a older Ester Williams pool.I like how it was built compared to the new ones they or putting out.Plus aluminum never rust and the whole construction is all aluminum. I just don't know how to prevent the root problem.
  2. I am trying to put up a above ground 24x24 round pool. I have a huge oak and gum tree smack in the middle of the yard. I have got a few estimates on the removal of the trees but the lowest price has been five grand. Each one has said they need to bring in a crane to remove them. That price also didn't include grinding down or removing the stumps. I have enough room to put the pool on either side of the trees. Any suggestions on the tree roots. I can't afford to remove the trees right now.
  3. The pump to motor comes from the dealer already installed on the motor. There is no stress on either one of the connections. Some of my background. Senior HVAC tech. I also work on water softeners, chemical feed pumps, well pumps. I am not a know it all, but as far as having it installed wrong, stress point, water flow..that isn't happening as far as I can tell. I have been looking at a heavier duty pump. I have even thought of installing a well pump but the well pump is more set up for pressure not volume...Mike
  4. I can't for the life of me figure out why the pump seal keeps going bad, starts to leak and then takes the motor out. This is the motor and pump assem. that I have had to replace once a year >> http://www.poolsinc.com/store.cfm?Dept=Poo...FTOKEN=55969202 << I don't have hard water and I keep the chemicals right where they are suppose to be. I have yet another replacement pump and motor coming in by the end of the week. I am thinking of taking the pump apart and putting vasline on the seals in hopes of it lasting maybe 2 year. My wife and I us the spa about twice a month. Any suggestion or ideas anyone can think of that might prolong this failure???
