Hi,
Please excuse my lack of pool technical knowledge but I will try and describe the problem as best I can.
I have a rectangular pool about 3mx7m, my pool cleaner is a Baracuda 'pacer', (http://www.zodiac.co.za/product/347/baracuda-pacer-swimming-pool-cleaner). I have a '2 bag' filter and I just changed it, (because I thought it was the reason for my problem).
When I run the pump with no attachments, (no pool cleaner and no weir cover, nothing), I can see no air bubbles in the glass cover of the pump, (the glass cover where the water comes from the pool, http://www.sundancem.co.za/pumps_spares.html).
Now, if I put the weir cover on, (not the pool cleaner, but the cover that allows me to plug the pool cleaner in), then all of a sudden there is a massive air bubble, and the basket is only 75% full, but it still works fine. The pump is still working but the water flow is nowhere near as strong as it would be if the weir and baracuda
If I now plug the Baracuda then the water level drops even more to about 50% and eventually the pool cleaner stops working, there is enough suction to keep it hanging on the wall of the pool but not enough to keep it moving.
If I unplug the pool cleaner and the weir cover then everything goes back to normal and the pump is running without any air bubbles.
So, my questions are.
Could my pump be so strong that it is causing a vacuum?
Could I have an air leak somewhere that only manifests itself when the weir cover and pool cleaner are plugged in?
What would you suggest I did?
Many thanks in advance for any suggestions.
Regards,
