  1. UPDATE: For two days after the new light control board was installed, they would work correctly for about an hour, and then go into the problem. But since then, they now are bad all the time, as soon as I turn them on. I tried resetting the tub with the breakers, but no change. I've called the dealer again, and they will once again check with Hot Spring. Has anyone else had this problem, or heard of it? What the heck could it be???
  2. Its time for someone to call the technical service people at the manufacturer. The factory rep said change out the lighting control module, which has been done but didn't solve the problem.

  4. I have a 15 month old Hot Spring Jetsetter. It is a very early unit of the latest version, with the IQ controller. I love everything about the spa, except for a problem with the bartop LED lights. There are 3 light units, and each one has either 2 or 4 LEDs. The problem is that within each unit, the LEDs don't display the same color. This started happening soon after purchase. Since that time, the dealer has replaced the wiring harnesses 3 times (I'm now on the 4th set, counting the original), the light unit seals have been replaced, and most recently the light control module has been replaced. The same day the light control module was replaced, the problem reoccurred. It doesn't do it right away, the lights have to be on for about an hour, and then the problem starts. Often, when the problem starts, there is some brief flashing of all 3 of the light units, in unison. This is followed by the lights not all being the same color, within each unit. In the 4 LED units, 2 LEDs will be one color, and 2 will be a different color. In the 2 LED unit, it is 1 and 1. Some of the colors work fine, but the Blue, Green, Yellow, and Magenta colors are the ones that have the problem. For example, if I set them on blue, half of the LEDs in each unit will be blue, and the other half green. This occurs either if I set them to blue, or when they rotate through blue with the color wheel on. The dealer has been very nice, and all has been covered under warranty. And I love everything else about this tub, which I use almost every day. A salesperson told me that I am not the only one with this problem. Has anyone out there heard of this, and do you know what a real fix might be? Thanks for any help!
  5. I love the no bypass filtration through the multiple filters because of the water quality and clarity it helps to maintain. I had a Cal Spas tub for 17 years with one filter and the usual split intake (filtered and bypassed). I hated to see debris in the water float right by the filter intake without getting sucked in (with the pump on high speed). It happened all the time. With my 6 month old HS Jetsetter, there is a virtual Niagara of water that flows into the filter chamber when the main jet pump is on. I have not had any water quality issues. There may be other factors involved, surely, besides the no bypass, but I am very happy with it and would never go any other route. Yes, it's true, multiple filters cost more to replace (but should last longer), and it is more of a hassle to clean them. I do rotate them regularly. But the water quality in my new tub is so very much improved over the old one, that it is worth it to me. Just my experience and opinion....
  6. We love everything about our new Jetsetter. Easy to maintain great water quality. Great hydrotherpay jets. Quick to drain, refill, and heat up. There's one minor problem, though, that has me puzzled. The bartop lights can be set to any one of a variety of colors (they are LEDs). Each bartop light unit (there are 3) has multiple LEDs within it. Soon after getting the tub, I started noticing that all of the LEDs in each unit were not always displaying the same color. Had the dealer come out for a service call and they replaced the lighting wiring harness. All was fine for a while, but now the problem is reappearing, but not consistently. Because it occurs in all 3 lighting units, I'm pretty sure the problem is not in the lighting units. But what could it be? How could a second harness have somehow gone bad? Could it just be an intermittently bad conncection? Of course, it is still within the warranty (tub is only 3 months old) and the friendly dealer will no doubt be happy to come back out. But before calling, I'm just wondering if anyone else has had this problem and knows what is going on.
  7. My 2 month old Jetsetter wired with 240v heats 12 degrees per hour with the jets off and the cover closed. Makes for a quick turnaround when doing a drain/refill. It's a great hydrotherapy pool for one or two persons.
  8. We've had a new Jetsetter for about 6 weeks now and are very pleased. It's a great size for 1 or 2 persons. We've never had 3 in it, but it would be tight. We bought it for hydrotherapy, primarily, as well as just relaxation, of course. We wet tested a number of Watkins brands and models (only full service dealer in our area), but in our price range (low end of Watkins), the Jetsetter felt the best. It has a very nice variety of jets. Be sure and wet test them. There are basically 4 seating positions, and each gives you nice hyromassage on a different part of the body. So you just spend a few minutes in each seat and then rotate. You can sit in the lounger on either end, and on the "foot" end you get a great lower back massage. In the various seats, you can get a really good massage on your neck, shoulders, every part of your back, and feet. Also, of all the models we tested, the JS was the only one in which you could put the diverter valve (which contols which jets get how much flow) in the middle, or "all," position and get a very satisfactory flow out of every jet at the same time. All the other tubs, even with two pumps, forced you to compromise. We are also very pleased with the water quality. The full filtration is truly awesome, and between that and the ozonator and the silver ion cartridge, it needs very little added chemicals. We use a little chlorine or MPS every time we use it and shock about once a week with same. We looked up the HS line at the Prodigy (similar price level) and the Sovereign ($2400 more). The Prodigy is bigger, but the Jetsetter is far superior in terms of hydrotherapy effectivness. The Sovereign is bigger and has similar hyrotherapy to the Jetsetter, but for just one or two of us at a time in the tub, we couldn't justify (or really afford) the extra cost. Plus the Jetsetter, with lower water volume, is cheaper to heat and maintain, and with it's dimensions, it is more portable, should we ever move. So we're real happy. One thing, though.... the Jetsetter is a relativelly shallow tub, and so it is really set up for using it in a reclining position. If you want a tub where you can sit more upright, and yet have water up over your shoulders, it won't work for you. I am a 6 footer. Prior to this, we had a large 8' 1992 Cal Spas model for 17 years. The JS is far superior in every way (except for size). I am so pleased with the water quality. The old tub had one filter and there was a bypass, so you never really got very effective filtration. With the JS, there is a "Niagara" of water flowing into the filter area when the jets are on.
  9. Just got my brand new HS Jetsetter a few days ago. We love it! One issue though... maybe someone here knows the answer: We've got it converted to run on 230 volts, so the heater should be staying on when the jets come on. But, it still seems to be losing heat when the jets are on. It is on the order of 3-4 degrees in about a half hour (with about 55 degrees ambient air temp), and as much as 7 degrees in an hour. Also, when you put your hand by the drain (which is where the heated water enters the spa) with the jets off (and the heater on), the water is very hot. As soon as you turn the jets on, the water quickly goes to the tub water temperature. When you turn the jets off, it quickly heats right back up. I called the dealer and the electrician who installed the tub said he was sure the jumpers were changed correctly to convert it to 230 volt operation. And he said it was normal to lose some temp when the jets were running. Still, why does the water coming out of the drain (which is where the heated water enters) cool and then warm up again when the jets are turned on and off? Just wondering if anyone knows what is "normal" for this tub and if I need to call the dealer back again. Thanks for any help.
  10. I have ordered a new HS Jetsetter. Yippee! It's replacing a 17 year old 8' Cal Spa that has reached the end of the line. This one is much smaller, of course, but will be used mostly by just the two of us. In wet testing, we thought it was more comfortable than the Sumatran, Bengal, and even the Prodigy. I'd probably love to get the Sovereign, but too much moneyh for me. Anyway, it sounds like the Jetsetter is a bit of a slow drainer. I have a nice little 300 gph transfer pump that uses garden hose fittings. What if I connected it in line to the drain from the tub... maybe a short 6' hose or so connected to the tub, then the pump, and then a long drain hose off the 8' high deck and down a hill for about 50 feet to a stream. The total drop in height is about 15-20 feet. Would there be any problem in using a pump like that? Would it put too much stress on the plumbing or mechanics in a way they weren't really designed for? Maybe the elevation drop alone in my drain hose will create enough suction to speed up the draining and I don't even need the pump. I was just curious. Of course, I could just stick the pump input hose into the tub, I know.... it just seemed neater and clearner to hook it into the actual drain hose. Well I'd love to hear any opinions about this. Or my new tub! This is the latest version of the Jetsetter which now has the control panel up on the bartop. Any other enhancements anyone know of? Is it true you have to cut the siding panels to gain access anywhere but the equipment bay? Any comments or opinions on the Jetsetter versus the Sovereign? It seems like in the Jetsetter you get all the great HS features and quality, and you get two very very comfortable seats... and you save over two thousand.... Thanks for any help or comments.
