  1. It has been right around freezing for the last 24 hrs, seems like the thermometer is stuck! Regardless, I have left everything running and everything seems ok, but there is a small amount of water underneath the pump that i have never seen before. I can't visibly see water coming out of anything and the amount is small, probably about 1 square foot. But it makes me anxious. I Could it be condensation?
  2. Is there a limit to this fact? I am not scheduled to have my pool closed till Oct 30th. They say I will be OK if i leave the filter running, but is there a limit to that advice? In other words, what if it gets down to 15F? Same thing applies? I am starting to get jitters since I am a newbie and we have freezing temps forecast for this weekend. It's only supposed to get around 30 but there are also 3 weeks left!
  3. I don't know Synergy but if you have liner pool do not use a floater in the winter it could bleach the liner. Sorry, forgot to mention this is a fiberglass pool.
  4. We moved into our home in June and have been using Synergy tabs and Synergy clear since then to maintain the 11,000 gallon fiberglass in ground pool. Everything has worked great and today I was in the pool store to schedule a pool closing for late October. The lady there was kind of all over the place with her subjects of discussion and hard to follow but here is what I gathered... She said I should just use Omni 3" stabilized Chlorine next year because it was cheaper than Synergy. At the very least she said i should use Omni in the pool floater for winter because it would dissolve slower than the 1" Synergy tabs. She also said the Synergy System is for pool "beginners" and that it wasn't as complicated. I don't get this because going to a product like Omni I am basically still just using Chlorine and Shock just like Synergy tabs and Synergy clear correct? Where is the difference? Why is that "more complicated?"
  5. We moved into this home this summer which has an in-ground viking fiberglass pool and now are approaching the end of swimming season. Our pool guy says that it is best to leave water in the pool all year, even here in Kansas where it gets to 0 F, many winters. He also says it is best to close as late as possible and open as early as possible. To me that sounds like a way to sell more chemicals, but is there science behind this? We have a cover for the pool that will be installed at closing.
