  1. Finally an answer to one of my questions .. .THANK YOU... here is just another Idea to run my you.. could a guy install the pillows.. like quite a few... and put the winter cover out the skimmer.. disconnet the tubing and let the water go all out by itself...
  2. We want to close up our pool for the season.. there are several trees with lots of leaves around the pool .. pool is a 28' round.. last year we used a winter tarp from a pool supply store... problem was with all the snow and rain.. it pushed out all the good water under it out the skimmer... we drained the pool just below the skimmer.. come spring there were a ton of leaves on the cover also..which was a pain to clean the leaves out and the smell was disgusting... we ended up almost draining the whole thing and gettting another truck load of good water in the spring.... in severl catalogs I see they sell inflatable winter pool pillows...If I bought a few would that keep the bad water from getting too heavy and pushing out the good water under the cover.. and what about a leaf net anyone have experience with these to help with all the leaves.. thanks for any advice..
  3. OK we are new at this whole pool thing.. bought a house with a 28' round ... about 19000 gallons.. .my question is our filter is a Purex Tritron Meteor sand filter... when I first started it up for the year with brand new sand(150#) it had about 8 lbs of pressure on the dial.. now about 3-4.. my local pool shop suggested changing the sand and putting in new... maybe clogged up with algae .. when I turn it on backwash not much of any dirt comes out this year or last year.... there is a small clear pipe on the side.. very little dirt.. we are running the pump for about 8 hours a day at night.. (cheaper electric rates).... also we bought this year a new pump.. I went with the 1.5 horse the Matrix to circulate more water... also when I vacummed the floor of the pool on saturday(today is monday) the vacuum worked well sucking up algae and other dirt.. but looked like alot of the algae came back into the pool through the water return on the side .. I vacuumed with the controller in thepool to waste position.. we needed to get ride of some water because of heavy rains recently..any help would be helpful.. like I said we are really new at this.... thanks again
