  1. We have installed a new Viking FIberglass pool this summer and as the summer has progressed. The smooth fiberglass sides now have a "speck-like" formation to them. It is not noticeable to the human eye as I have dove down to examine. However, when I rub my hand along the walls, I can feel this build-up. I think that it is some kind of metal build-up. When I filled the pool up when I installed it, it sat for nearly three weeks before I was able to hook up the filtration system and I am afrais something has attatched to the walls. Is there anything I can do to clean these wallls before I winterize the pool for the winter?
  2. I am installing a new VIKING pool and have a question concerning backfill. Many people suggest mason sand which costs about $22/ton. The individual that I bought the pool from told me to use limestone gravel (pea gravel) which costs about $6/ton. Any suggestions? have laid the sand down for the base.
  3. I am using PVC schedule 40 hard pipe. My question is the fittings. Do I use the schedule 40 fittings which allow extra space for the pipe to go into the fitting or do I use the schedule 80 fittings (drain) which are thicker but only allow about 3/4 of an inch for the pipe to go into where the schedule 40 fittings allow about 1 1/2 inches into the pipe?
  4. Pathfinder. this is the first I have heard of this type of underground plumbing. However, I beleive that I am going to go with rigid PVC schedule 40 pipe with fittings and a good glue. I would like to bend the pVC but I have never done this before and I don't have the equipment required.
  5. Most of the people on this board are totally against flexible pvc pipe. I think this would be a better fit and musch easier to do. However, the dealer that I bought it from told me to stay away from flexible pvc. I tend to disagree and feel that this is what I want to use. WIth ridge pipe at the pump and filters. Anyonhe else agree with us? Thanks for the input. I have to change the above information about my pool. I have two bottom drains, two returns and my skimmer has two holes in the bottom. ALso, does the one hole in the skimmer act as a dummy? Thanks Scott
  6. ANyone with a little help with pool plumbing hints. I plan on using PVC pipe schedule 40 with 45 degree bends. ANy secret to this? Any insight would be appreciated. I am installing a 16 x 30 kidney shaped Viking fiberglass pool. It has a skimmer and one return. I am using a Jandy 1 1/2 HP pump, Jandy cartridge filter and a Jandy chlorinator. Thanks
