  1. OK. Well I have some of that. I did try a 4;1 dilution as it was recommended by a pool supply store, but it didnt do anything. Straight w/no dilute........OK....well......ill have to very careful and give it a go on a test spot to see if it works first. Ill let you know what happens. So far Ive gotten tips to use. Bleach, lithium hypolate in this thread, 4;1 muriatic (did not work),( But did an excellent job of cleaning a copper weather vane I just did.) full strength muriatic I can try 1 and 4 easily tonight and let you know.
  2. Thank you for the help. Its stains from the leaves and grime left sitting on the spa surface. Ph- is the chemical used to lower ph when trying to balance the water right? What is lithium hypochlorite? Is that the same as the chlorine I add to the water for dissenfectent? Its sounds like you are suggesting to use equal parts of each chemical then add water to make a paste of the two chemicals and then scrub that onto the stains with a bristel brush? Thanks again!
  3. I think this is an acrylic spa. Some pictures are hosted at the url below. http://www.members.cox.net/rkruz2/spa/index.html Is there a way to salvage the shell by refinishing it or some how removing the stains for a uniform color? thank you for any tips!
  4. I have an old in ground spa that Im sure is acrylic vs fiberglass. I has been empty a while and leaves and clutter sitting in it have set bad stains. Can these be removed from acrylic? I spoke with local pool supply and they suggested trying 4:1 dilution of muriatic acid on the stains and then polish. But at that time I thought it was a fiberglass spa. Anyway, I tried it and it had absolutely no effect on the stains. Im struggling with what to do if we can make the shell presentable again. Its too expensive to replace. thanks for any tips.
  5. I have a 25yr old in ground spa. I think its fiberglass. Structurally fine but has unsightly stains. Are there companies that can apply a new finish that is suitable for underwater use and durable? If so, Im looking for something in the Southern Calif area. I did a cursory look at replacing the spa and just the tub and equipment would be $10,000. Id have to make a garden patch out of it before I could spend that. thanks for any tips
  6. OK thank you
  7. I have a 25 year old in ground kidney sort of shape, plastic shell spa in my backyard. It has external pump and heater. Its old and stained and the heater doesnt work any longer. Its placed in a concrete patio. I was wondering about replacing it with a premade shell, knowing I wont find the same shape. I could modifiy and removed some of the patio cement to accommodate a different size/shape and would replace the pump/heater. Nice thing is its plumbed already. Any experience with this sort of thing or recommendations? An desperate alternative is to remove it and put in a fish pond in the same shape. Maybe its even more economical in this case to have a cust spa built? Any thoughts appreciated. thanks!
