If we let it sit for awhile, will the bromine dissipate? Or is draining and starting over the only way? Thanks

I tried to search the topics but could not find this info on the boards. We have had our hot tub for about 14 years. Sunday, we just cleaned it out, refilled it, balanced the water and put some bromine tablets in. Yesterday, we purchased the Nature2 and decided not to use the bromine anymore (don't like the smell). The Nature2 instructions say to empty the tub and refill with clean water to begin. Do we really have to empty and refill it after 3 days? Can we wait a specified amount of time for the bromine to be "gone"? We just hate to waste 500+ gallons of water. What happens if we don't empty and refill? Thanks in advance!
