  1. Thank you, how much are those filters for them? easier to maintain then the sand? Does that plastic ring need any o ring lube or anything,,or just put it in like that?
  2. I garbage picked this jucuzzi filter system,Its a CFR Cartridge Filter. I got it home just for the motor, only to found out it didnt work. I can hear it wanting to move but wouldnt, took it apart from the housing mount and seen it was rusted sprayed it down with wd-40 and broke it loose and now it runs great, smooth and quiet. I forgot which way this ring goes on,anyone know for sure? top pick or bottom pic correct? Now that im looking at this its nicer then my old sand filter,my old sand filter works good but it leaks around the top a little bit,and the motor is just one speed with no on or off. This new one has "well new to me" 2speeds and everything else looks to be in good shape, could I just use this for my pool? Its a 27' 4' deep, this motor is 1.5 hp will this work?
  3. Some of you might have seen my post a few weeks ago about buying a used pool, well the good news is we got it up and the liber is good and all is well on that side of things,But......The water is almost to the skimmer box so we started hooking up hoses and testing the pump and sand filter. The water kept coming out of the waste port on the dial head,I read that there might be sand in there preventing the handle to lock in the filter position. I took off the head washed it out pretty good with the hose relubed the gasket put it back on,It moved a bit smoother and actually slowed down 95% of water. I moved it around to different settings and it started again, then it slowed down again but it never fully stopped? Does this mean the valve head is shot? Maybe it just needs to be ran and wash out any crap that was there from moving it around? This is a jacuzzi sand filter mfm 17/20 Any suggestions Please let me know. Thanks.
  4. I contacted the guy and he said he just installed this liner less then 4yrs ago. So instead of waiting till next season im going to go ahead and put it up next week seeing how the liner wont make it being stored. So how much sand would you recommend me to put down I was thinking about 3" sound about right? Also would I just make a flat area of sand in a 28' radius 3" deep and put pool up,then once wall is up build a cove around? How deep and high should that be? Then just hang liner and fill? Any tips or suggestions are welcome.
  5. I had a few more questions, I read that the average life span of a liner is 10yrs if treated properly if not it will be less around 5 or so. So another deciding factor will be if he just replaced under 3 yrs or not "Im gonna call him and ask" But I was looking around for liners checking prices and designs and stuff and most every site I seen for a 27' round pool they came in either 48' or 52' Now that being said when I went to go look at the pool I asked and he said it was a 4' pool "that would be the 48" pool right?" I measured the metal wall and it came out to be 51 and a half inches, does this mean it is a 52" pool,or do they like offset things like when its said and done it will be 4' deep, and the 52" pool wall would measure around 55" Or do I in fact have a 52" pool?
  6. Just got a used pool its a 27' and has a beaded liner. People said it will become brittle,Where would this happen where it is held by the edges or just everywhere in general? We took the pool down today and liner looks fine,it doesnt seem brittle or cracked anywhere around the edges,So my question is does it go bad when its not in use,or do they just go bad in time? Whats the average life span on liners? I planned on putting the pool up next summer but people say the liner will not be good then, but if this liner is good now and can be saved I will start putting it up this year,So please let me know. If I need to shop for a new liner what are some good brands and or where to buy from?
  7. Im not sure But I know its not vinyl the tops is some kind of metal I guess aluminum. I'll find out for sure what it all needs in a few days when I go to pick it up. About these extra depth liners how do they work,do you just buy a 27' and say I want 5' deep. So seeing how the pool is 4' standard I would just dig a 1' deeper where the pool would go "well actually a foot and a half to make room for sand?" and just put it together like normal?
  8. Some guy is selling his above ground 27' pool, He said he had it for a long and his kids just dont use it anymore. Im not sure of the brand but it has a jacuzzi sand filter with a bromine thingy. It looked pretty good the sides and tops wasn't rusty. It was filled up and running looked decent and he only wants $300 for it. The skimmer thing on the side had a crack in it,but he said he epoxied it and its fine, but would a replacement be easy to come by for it,like is that a standard part or is each pool different and might be hard to find? The sand filter also had a little leak where the top went on "not bad just a steady dribble" Something to be worried about or just needs to be re seated? But for $300 I thought it was a good deal,But I dont know much about them hopefully someone and can chime in and make me feel better about this purchase. We currently have a 18' intex pool that is 4' I was hoping that was 5'deep,but the guy said his buddy actually just dug out the bottom of his and made it deeper,is there any truth to doing this? I guess you could but wouldnt you need a bigger liner? If there is anything I need to know please tell me,Thanks
