  1. I just cleaned my Pentair Clean and Clear 420 cartridge filter for the first time. The pressure was perfect afterward but is not climbing quickly it seems. What is wrong? Everything looks fine, just the pressure is climbing.
  2. My cya is 50. I got my phosphate level down to 200 and my swg is now raising my chlorine level. Thanks of all the replies!!!
  3. OK, here is an update and thanks everyone for your help. I have a Jandy Ei APURE35PLG. My pool is 26,000 gallons. I think my Phosphate levels were throwing the chlorine levels off. They are at 1000. I added some PHOSFree by Natural Chemistry. Has anyone used that? It's really expensive stuff. Is there a cheaper way to knock down the Phosphate levels?
  4. I just had my pool resurfaced with all new equipment and a salt water generator. The generator is working really slow raising levels. I was told that my phosphate level is probably high and sucking up all my chlorine. I had it tested and it is 1000! 100 is acceptable right? The pool shop recommended PHOSFree by Natural Chemistry. I bought some and added it. One container was $42 bucks. Here's my question, is there a cheaper, better way to knock down the phosphate level? Thanks for helping the newbie!!!
  5. I have my levels of salt right and was wondering how fast the SWG produces chlorine? What kind of jump should I see. It's a new Jandy and I have it at 60 percent. How long do you generally leave the SWG on? Thanks. Monte
  6. Once you add the initial amount of salt to reach the required concentration (For example, Jandy requires 3,000 ppm salt), you only have to add salt to replace what is lost to water loss from sources such as splash-out and backwashing. You should monitor the salt level as reported by your unit and test the water periodically to verify. The amount needed per month should not be much at all. To raise the salt level by 3,000 ppm in 40,000 gallons, you would add 1,000 pounds of salt. Your water will already contain some salt, so you will subtract the existing amount to determine the amount to add. What is the make and model of your salt water chlorine generator? Great info, thanks a lot. I will check out exactly what model generator it is and post later. I know it's a Jandy and a model that just came out. Monte
  7. Hi Everyone, This is my first post and my first time using my new Salt Water converter. What is the best way to test for salt levels. Test strips or the digital meters??? I'm new to all this. How many bags of salt do people go through in a month generally? I live in CA and have a 40,000 gallon pool. Thanks for the responses in advance. Monte
