Marie3 Posted May 8, 2006 Report Posted May 8, 2006 I just bought a new Caldera spa the Moorea model with 420 gallons... I have had it since April 21.. I have already had to drain it since it got really foamy and an oil film on the water... was told first month should drain it anyways since new... my question is I use my tub twice a day for 1/2 hour each time.. I got a start up kit of Spa Essentials chemicals... I have just ran out of shock treatment and almost out of chlorine since I have to use 1 tble spoon daily to keep water at right level.. and I also seem to use alk. up to keep water chem. where it needs to be already half gone with that.... what is your opinion on leasure time chemicals just ordered the alk.. up and chlorine 56 from online I know the chlorine matched the bottle I am using now so no fillers... I have one hot springs dealer here locally just 1 mile away but will not step foot in there store need to find something online to order from.. since place I bought my tub is 40miles one way and with gas in my next of the woods at 3.09 a gallon driving my suv at 11miles a gallon its really stupid to waste $12.00 plus on gas for chemicals unless in that neck of the woods... love the spa essentials chemicals but are they only through spa dealers only.. also have stain and scale control bottle says add 2oz every week set up crew said every month whats the deal... and also with the water clarifer bottle says when needed so every week or so? I have not used the ph decreaser yet my tub only seems to need the alk.. increaser to level the chemicals ..... when I add that it brings the ph where it needs to be .. okay is this true .. if alkanity is too high you use the ph decreaser to level the ph to the right amount and the alkanily will come down correct.. and if alk is to low the ph seems low so you add alk. to adjust the ph and alk to even them out right???? this seems to be working for me or is this not right.. anyways you experts out there please give me some ideas and where to buy some chemicals online since I live out in the country with no major shopping.. would love the buy from my dealer but to far thanks for your help Quote

Put a tsp of dichlor in after every soak unless your not going to use it the next day then add 2tsp. Use the baking soda when your TA drops to below 80. Raise it to 130 making sure your PH does not exceed 7.8 It should remain in range for a month or 2 Up the amount of dichlor if theres more than one person 1 tsp per person. This is based on use of twice per day. Quote

Leisure Time Metal Gone - when filling the tub Leisure Time PH up - adjust to levels Leisure Time PH Balance - 1 bottle when filling tub, after adjusting Ph levels. This locks in the PH and you don't have to add more PH up for 3 months. Leisure Time Spa 56 (dichlor) - 2 scoops every other week. To fully sanitize. EZ Spa OM - 2 scoops once a week. Keeps the water beautiful, clear, soft and odorless. Leisure Time Renew - 1 scoop after each bathing. Helps activate the chemicals that are already in the tub, and keep it sanitized. So basically I just put chemicals in it after each bathing, and once a week. I also rinse my filters once a week to keep them clean. My opinion, this is very easy and the website above seems to have the best prices. Free shipping if you spend $50 or more. Check it out... Quote
