Jeepnfl Posted May 3, 2006 Report Posted May 3, 2006 We are completely new to hot tubs so I need some guidance. My wifes Grand-parents weren't using theirs much anymore so they gave it to us. Problem is, "Papa" passed away and "Gi-Gi" knows nothing about it so it's sitting empty on our back patio with no power just begging to be set up. My questions are 1. Will leaving it empty for several months cause any damage? (it was full and running in Nov 05) 2. Do I need a "spa person" or will any trusted electrician know how to hook it up? 3. 115V or 220V? What I know about the Spa: 1. It's a Liesure Bay 2. It's about 4 years old 3. It has 2 seats with one recliner 4. Not sure of the model I would really love to get this up and going soon as my wife and I are expecting our 3rd child ANY DAY. After the last 9 months that she'd had she deserves some serious R&R and chillin' out in the hot tub after the kids go to bed sounds like just what the doctor ordered! Thanks in advance for your guidance. BTW, we are located in N.E. FL. (edited for spelling) Quote

If you go to the manufacturers web site you can find a local dealer. give them the serial # and they will tell you what model it is, then maybe you can request a user manual. Once it is hooked up you will want to flush out any old standing water that is still in there. Once filled turn her on, take a water sample to any local pool or spa dealer and they will help you out with water chemistry. Enjoy. Quote
TJWebb Posted May 3, 2006 Report Posted May 3, 2006 Not that you asked this, but please be sure your wife speaks to her OB about spa use before hand. I was told to avoid them while pregnant and nursing. We are completely new to hot tubs so I need some guidance. My wifes Grand-parents weren't using theirs much anymore so they gave it to us. Jeepnfl Posted May 4, 2006 Author Report Posted May 4, 2006 Thanks for the info Guzz, I was worried about leaving empty for so long. I'll have an electrician look it over and decide which way to go on the wiring. My wife is scheduled for an induction on Tues so all of this would be after the birth. But you are correct, you should NOT be hot tubbin' while pregnant, that much "liquid heat" is not good for the wee one. My wife is a Labor and Delivery Nurse and thats why this has not become an issue until now. I think she didn't want me to enjoy it if she couldn't, so now that she can (soon) it has become top priority! Thanks again for y'alls input. Quote
