What kind of info are you looking for?

I think his question was about intakes, but his question has vanished, you may want to post it again, I'm sure someone will help you.

I am trying to find information about the suction fittings in the Marquis U530 hot tub I just purchased. I have noticed that only one of the 4 really has any suction to it. And with all the research I have done, I can't seem to find any information about that.

Does any one know if this is normal to have only one fitting that works harder then the rest?

Sorry to be so boring. Didnt know it was my turn to entertain :P

Your suction fittings in the footwell are suposed to work only if there is an obstruction in the filter. On low most if not all the water should go through the filter. As you increase pump speed more water will be drawn through the suction fittings. And it only makes sence that the closest one to he filter or pump, would be the one that carrys the most suction. If that one gets plugged the next one will pick up the slack and so forth. Put a rag over the one with the suction and see if the next one down the line picks up more and so on.

The 4th suction fitting probably only comes on, if one of the other fittings gets clogged. I am not saying you are boring. I just didn't know what you were inquiring about.

I was hoping some marquis tech was going to come in with your answer, but grahamtasia is somewhat correct, most suction fittings have valves that restrict the flow so more water is being filtered, then as your filters get dirty those valves open up drawing more water in and by-passing the filters. That's why Hotsprings makes such a deal about their filter system, because it is a no-bypass system, it has no intakes.

That is exactly what I needed to know. I tried covering the one filter up last night, and wouldnt you know....the others started sucking in water more. Thank you.

It only sucks when it needs too! Some bypass filtration system unit assembley packages suck too much and too often and wont stop. With Marquis you don't have to worry about that. I am glad you found your answer!!!

I am surprised that the owners manual does'nt make this clear, however, forget all this, and enjoy your spa, welcome to spatopia!
