Guest Scott Posted September 22, 2005 Report Posted September 22, 2005 I am thinking of buying a masterspa lsx1050 with a tv and audio system. Any thoughts? It has an aquatic excerciser...any thoughts. I want a gazebo overthe spa for outside in michigan. should I buy the gazebo from the spa dealer? Quote
Guest stl-rex Posted September 22, 2005 Report Posted September 22, 2005 My wife's boss has the exact model at which you are looking. He had trouble with the head unit. It had to be replaced three times in the first year of warranty because the dealer did not realize (and I'm not sure exactly what or where) something was not caulked properly and water was reaching the unit and burning it out. He even pointed it out to the dealer and they told him that was not the cause. Once the warranty ran out, he caulked it up and has had no issues since. He likes it a lot. While the dealer leaves something to be desired here, overall it's appears to be a nice spa. I don't believe he uses it for exercise...........and I can't speak to if gazebo's from the dealer are good buys. Quote
Guest Jim Arjuna Posted September 22, 2005 Report Posted September 22, 2005 Here is some news about Master Spas that I find to be sort of sleazy. They started in 1996, and yet they put some decal that shows 25 years in business. The fact is they bought out the old FT. Wayne Pools ( a pool and spa distrubutor) factory for Down East, long after it was shut down. It was years later they decided to use the Down East name instead of just Master Spas, so they could cash in on the old factory. There are no Down East spas made any longer, it is a name. I used to work on Down East spas, and they had a lot of shell problems. When they solicited me about selling their product back in 96, they told me flat out they were brand new that year. There were no "Down East" spas in any catalog or brochure. They a couple of lines of spas and I thing the second line eventually became the "Down East" to get the fake extra years in advertising. Guest Scott Posted September 22, 2005 Report Posted September 22, 2005 do you think it is a good or bad spa? Quote
Guest stl-rex Posted September 22, 2005 Report Posted September 22, 2005 Masterspa has its detractors due to shady marketing of their product, but overall I have not observed any serious rips on the overall quality of the tub in my quest for information. If you like the tub and the dealer, make your best deal and go for it! Quote
Guest Rick Posted September 22, 2005 Report Posted September 22, 2005 The TV thing sitting over 100 degree water is a bit risky in my opinion. Make sure you fully understand the warranty and DON'T rely on any type of VOUCHER!!! Quote
Guest Jim Arjuna Posted September 22, 2005 Report Posted September 22, 2005 In my opinion, Master Spas are better than Hot Spring, Caldera, Dimension One, Cal Spas, Sundance, Artesian, and many others, but the only real grips is about the mechanism on the TV and the extremely high electric bills and some shell cracks. I have watched this company for a long time, and they are doing better. However, I don't like metal frames, becaues of noise and heat transfer. I don't like pumps mounted on thin boards. I don't like deception of any kind used to market things. I like spas to be quiet and powerful and not waste energy. There is no such thing as any "spa rating system", not at all. They are all advertising in disguise. If you can get a good price on it and you enjoy it, then buy it. They have an excellent webmaster. The webmaster is an expert in my opinion. The spas just OK. Guest morgan Posted September 22, 2005 Report Posted September 22, 2005 Ok, you have just named all the spa choices in my area (Suthern California, L.A.) and if I hear you correctly Master Spa is better than the rest but you still feel they have problems. If that is the case, what kind of problems does six other brands you named have. I am becomming very confused about buying a spa. It is like politics the cons just negate the pros and pros negate the cons, yet no one really says the truth.. Quote
Guest spatech (the unreal one) Posted September 22, 2005 Report Posted September 22, 2005 Morgan, Don't get to worked up by the post that preceeded yours. *** has an axe to grind with all those comapnies he puts down but that's just his opinion and keep in mind hes merely a spa salesman competitng against them. My list of spas I'd suggest you check out are ironically pretty much the list he puts down (Sundance, Hot Springs, D1, Caldera, Maquis, etc.). It's just his opinion and it certainly isn't shared here by many (if any). Check out all your local options, wet test, get a feel for the dealer's willingness to care for your service needs and come back and let us know what YOU think. Quote
Guest Tracey Posted September 22, 2005 Report Posted September 22, 2005 scott, I'm a landscape designer and I have recommended my clients to consider Master Spas, Hot Springs and Sundance. My business is in Michigan and most of my clients buy the master spas and they seem to be happy. I am against the tv models but a few of my clients have them and they like them. Some of those clients have van's and suv's with tv's in them also. good luck Quote
Guest Michael Posted September 22, 2005 Report Posted September 22, 2005 Tracey- Can I get your contact info as I open up a store in the Novi area. Thanks, Michael Quote
Guest Bo Posted September 22, 2005 Report Posted September 22, 2005 The spa itself is decent...I'm fairly certain the electronics are pretty good...togehter (regardles of the manufacture), I know the electronics end up loosing. Moister, electronics?! Think about it. I realize they are not submersed in the water but, your tub will out last the electronics, "marine grade" speakers, or what ever else they call them. I was dismayed to find out mine only had a one (1) year warranty on the electronics, remote control, stereo, etc. and I had to pay and pay to have them fixed. Guess what, I enjoy my hot tub and boom box now. Quote
Guest Aaron Rice Posted September 22, 2005 Report Posted September 22, 2005 This is an incredible tub. It's the best I have ever tried. The extreme therapy seat is so powerful. Anyone with back problems really needs to have this seat in their tub. The tub size is awesome. You can really use it as a mini-pool and do kicks while watching tv. I would definitely by this spa over all others. It allows you to watch tv outside if you want to also - or just listen to music in your back yard. It's great. Go for it!!!! My dealer is in NEWARK, DE. I've had great experience with them. Not sure about Michigan but my experience has been exactly what I wanted. They also offer gazebos that are large enough to enclose a tub this large. Quote
