Recomendations For Consideration

We are planning to invest in a hot tub. The short list we are considering has been narrowed down to the following brands: Vita, Marquis, Artic and Gulf Coast. Mostly based on what I have read from reviews on this site and others. We are located in Minnesota so it is a cold weather location for what it is worth. Suggestions and observations on these brands, pros and cons are much appreciated.

all i can add is artic and marquis were two of the ones on my list since i got rid of the t.p. spa i had. the arctic dealer was very very rude like they didnt have time to answer my ?s their prices were way high. i went across town and the marquis dealer was just leaving to drive to milwaukee. he stayed there well over 1 hour to answer all ?s treated me like a real person. isnt that what a sales persons job is? i am very glad i decided on the marquis everyday 530 . i live in the U.P. of MI where it is very cold, we were getting heavy snow tonite as matter a fact. as i said in other posts my electricity usage is only 1/3 of what it was compared to the other T.P. type of tub. the action in this tub is just great. wet test if you can, enjoy and go packers.

Try not to limit your brand choices simply by the recomendations here. Wet test as many tubs as you can and try not to get lured too much into all of the different methods to building tubs. I was doing just that untilwent and took my first wet test and purchase assuming it was nice. It wasnt and my time researching all the mechanical details was a wast. Yes, all of those brands are good but there are many more brands just as good if not metter IMO. Remember what you are purchaising this tub for. Relaxation. The wet test should tell you everything. Nobody I know sits in there tub thinking about the foam. Also try not to just look at a tub dry and tell yourself you dont like it until you try it wet. There are many better tubs than whats on your list. Also, dont think that you have to go with a brand just becasue alot of people have them. I just purchased an LA spa and found it to be my favorite but you wont see much on this website about LA spa. It seems weird since they have making hot tubs longer than almost any other tub out there. Ther knowledse shined through in the the tubs as well. I also found it to be a very good value in addition to being comfortable with excellent build quality and design. I not trying to tell you that you need to buy an LA spa just that you should keep an open mind.

No one is trying to limit anyone. This site is open to whatever brand people own, sell, service or are looking atanyone. The representation you see on this site is in part equal to the size market share each brand has out there. Sundance/Jacuzzi, Hot Springs/Caldera and Marquis are talked about most because they sell the majority of tubs out there, have more dealers, sales people and customers coming to the site, it's that simple. LA Spas is a viable option as well and they get about the same talk that D1, Master and some others get. BTW, LA hasn't been making hot tubs any longer than the tubs I just mentioned so I'm not sure what you mean by that and many others have been around as long as well (there are many out there in that 20 year to 30 year category, I assume you are saying LA is one of them, I'm not sure). If you want to see more newbies reading about LA stick around and let people know about your spa.

I understand about market share. My advice was simply becasue I see alot of talk about the same few brands and my advice was not to rule out other smaller brand names all on the sake of not seeing alot of info here about it. Ther are alot of good brands out there. Wet test, wet test, wet test. I cant say it any more.

as for the comment about LA not making hot tubs any longer than the others you mentioned, the only companies that has been in business as long as LA is Caldera and Jacuzzi on your list. All the others came later. Jacuzzi was first out of these, La and Marquis started in 1976, D1 and hot springs in 1977, Sundance in 1979, Marquis in 1980, Master spa in 1981. I never stated that they were the THE fisrt spa builder, just one of the fisrt. My post was not to say that LA spas are superior than all spas out there. I used it only as an example since I found it to be a better made and better value spa than most of the bigger brands. a perfect example of looking at more brands than just what is listed. I was also trying to point out the idea of not ruling out any brand until after a wet test. Dry tests can be so mis leading. Thats all, I hope I cleared that up.

Where do you live in Minnesota? Are these the only brands available in your area? Of those 4 I prefer the Marquis, but your investigation of the dealer and the comfort of the tub should tell you which of the 4 is the best for you.

I also like the consruction of the Marquis, Arctic is also a well made tub, Marquis is a full foam spa Arctic is a well made Thermal pane. I prefer the cabinet of the Marquis. I sell neither, just my opinion.

Go to the websites of all the major spa makers and see who is close by, visit them and start wittling down the field. Besides what you've listed I'd recommend you check out Sundance, Jacuzzi, Hot Spring, Caldera, D1, Artesian ...

call the burnsville marquis dealer set up a wet test, then do the same with the others. in the twin cities there are a number of them. but all the talking on here and web surffing does not take the place of a wet test. but start somewhere!
