Sundance Banned @ Pool&spa Show

Recommended Posts

Last Friday night after show hours a person with Sundance at the Novi, MI Pool&Spa show this weekend was caught on camera by the main entrance to the Rock Financial convention center in the Dynasty booth putting a substance into a filled Dynasty demo spa. The substance was placed into 5 other brands of demo spas and caused all the spas to overflow with suds. After numerous complaints SHOWSPAN banned Sundance Spas Inc. from any future events and had the police escort the the man who was caught on camera out of the building.

Unfortunately Sundance affiliates are not the only ones doing this I have heard of this happening in many events in the past.

TBK!

Ridiculous

I have just put a very small deposit down on a Sundance Spa and I feel like I should "walk it".

Just pathetic

Sundance is a good spa backed by a good company, but there are village idiots in all organizations. Don't let this one spoil it for you.

How does one verify the truth of this thread? Any other sources for this story?

He was specific about the show and date so hopefully that can be confirmed (or discounted). Obviously that is a reflection on that individual and MAYBE that dealer (depending on whether it was a traveling smuck salesman or a regular employee or the actual dealer) but nothing more should be taken from it.

This is completly true! There were two other spas that got soaped. An employee of Inside Out was the one caught on tape, he left the bath room with a hand full of soap. He was fired, but I bet he will show up back in Inside Out's store. However I don't think InsideOut was banned from the show. This type of tactics is shamful!

There was also confirmation that Brulan was no where near that show! B)

The original post makes it sound like an employee of Sundance, itself did this. That would seem highly unlikely. A bonehead dealer...maybe.

If it was a hired sales team for the event the person that did this may have had no conection to Sundance other than as a temporary event guy.

However, if he was an event salesman, he could be with an independent company that Sundance promotes. Whoever he is should be ashamed dealers should know who he is.

Our Master Spa was a victim of the soaping as well. The culprit admitted to me that he did indeed put soap in our spa. The owner of "the company" said that he was going to be fired. Later, he said that the employee of six years was just banned from that show. Unbelievable! I'm sure that this idiot got a lot of high-fives behind the scenes. Sundance is a pretty nice spa, but the spa is only as good as the dealer who sells it, services it, and supports the customer. It makes you wonder what kind of atmosphere these salesmen work in, when an employee of six years thinks it's alright to do that. I guess they were just scared to take on Master Spas and Dynasty Spas in a fair, head-to-head competition. That little stunt cost my company tens-of-thousands of dollars in lost sales, wasted time, missed opportunity, water, filters, chemicals, etc.

I don't sell Sundance. However, there is no reason for a Sundance dealer to stoop to those tactics when selling against Master Spa or Dynasty Spas. Completely different products designed for different people.

You don't think that taking out two major competitors at a show is a good enough reason? So what exactly do you mean by "Completely different products designed for different people?" BTW, they did stoop to those tactics.

What he means is he doesn't think Sundance should have to stoop to those levels competeing against those particular spas you mentioned. In his opinion Sundance is design for different people than those others and should not have to resort to those tactics to sell against those others, it could hold it's own just fine. There's plenty I don't like about Sundance but I think they are a fine tub. In my top ten, but not top 5.

Boneheads make bonehead moves. I know theres plenty who would consider this a black mark against Sundance but most are smart enough to recognize stupidity by a person.

I agree with you Roger, but the fact that they have apparently not washed their hands of this guy is not a good move.

Has it been determined if he was part of a sales team or an actual employee? If he was part of a sales team I would like to know so that there is no possibility of making the mistake of hiring that team for any promotion that I would be doing.
