La Vs. Hot Springs

We're new to hot tub shopping and are basically overwhelmed by our choices. We have yet to wet test any but by appearance and options we are leaning towards either the LA Solera or Hot Springs Envoy. Of course this may change after testing them. My first question is which one of this is considered the better tub manufacturer and are there any other brands I should be considering? Also everyone seems to have their own filtration system, pump system, and heating system gimmicks; are there really any differences? I guess I'm looking for a starting point to narrow in on the high quality tubs and avoid the junk. If it makes any difference I live in north western Minnesota, so it gets cold.

Thanks

I am going through the same thing right now. I wet tested the HS envoy and LA spa Oasis. I have heard very good things about Hs, not a lot of info on the LA spas. However-when I wet tested I really liked the LA spa better, plus the price for the LA spa was much better including all the options that I want. I still haven't made a decision, although I think I have ruled out the HS because it just didn't feel as good. Good luck and let us know how the wet test goes.

You are heading in the right direction, you already now that you get what you pay for. There are a lot of quality spas out there, and also some not so good. The not so good are sometimes not easy to spot, they hide behind glitzy features and shady sales people. So, shop around, look for a spa that is backed by a solid warranty, ( insist on seeing it and read it carefully) shop the dealer, how long they have been in business, how long they have carried that brand, and their reputation in the local community. Some sugestions, Marquis, Dimmension 1, coleman,Sundance,Arctic, HotSprings, they are my personal top pics, but there are lots more. I sell HotSprings and if I did'nt I'd be happy selling any of the above. Good luck in your search, keep us informed of your progress, and I will gladly give you any unbiased advice you may need ( i'm in the North East and a non commisioned sales guy) remember that there is no best spa, just the one thats best for you.

I would choose LA spas over HS any day. HS does alot of corporate advertising as opposed to LA spas. LA is very compfortable and built fairly well like the HS. I just like the people that sell LA that I met at the show.

Now there's a good reason to give someone for a reason to buy "brand X" when that person is buying a spa on the other side of the country for all you know LOL. I shopped a Coleman booth once and the salespeople were dips#!ts so maybe people should be wary of that brand LOL?

He who talk to spa customer development specialist get good advice,

He who talk to dippy salesman get misinformation.

Old japanese sayings:

He who knows of less gets less.

He who knows of more expected less.

He who knows of more expects more.

He who knows of less expects more.

He who knows of more or less is not dissapointed.

He who throws sh*t in fan gets sh*t thrown back in face.

  • 2 weeks later...

I just bought an LA spa today. I tested out many spas but the LA spa felt the best. The LA spa was by far and away a better value than most manufactures. I purchased the HEET model. It should be here in about 3-4 weeks. I am excited . I will be sure to post how I enjoy it when I gets here. Until then, its a waiting game.

Please do a search here of LA Spas and you will see what I wrote nov 22 05. I had gone to the LA Spa factory in Los Angles. I live on Long Island. I was very impressed with my wet test and the therapy was very very good. I am how ever alittle disappointed that there is only one dealer within 75 miles from me. there was a big difference in price(lower) from a dealer 100 miles away but they will not deliever this far away. If anyone does buy this spa could you please let me know which model you bought and how much it cost. this tub usually has 3 levels of each tub with more and more jets as you go up in price. I have been waiting for my contractor to finish my deck and hope to purchase the oasis with all the jets available. the heet was even better but too big for my porch. each seat truly offered a different therapy. would love to hear back from owners regarding this company.

thanks brulan. There are alot of nice tubs out there. The wet test made me appreciate everyones choice for a differnt brand of tub. The only spas that I will not agree with in any shape or form is the costco tub.

If you are lookign at the difference betwen tubs, a wet test is the only answer.

From that remark then I take it you dislike all Elite brand hot-tubs as well, right? Or just ones sold at Costco?

The manufacturer for Costcos spas is Hydro spa. The Elite is just a model.

Depends on if your talking about their online tubs or in-house tubs....they are not the same. I was under the impression that the in-house tubs were made by Elite, but I'm no expert...just what I've read. Then if they are Hydro, you dislike all Hydro Spa's?

I wouldnt buy one myself but its just like everything else some people are more concerned about price than quality and NO that is not a put down for people that already own them.

I send my customers in to look at them. I think customers need to shop and compare and if they are convinced thats a good deal then so be it. I believe in general that is not what most people are looking for is the biggest bargain they can get.

I think most people realize you get what you pay for and as one costomer on this forum said if your handy and you realize your not going to have the dealer support it may be a good deal.

Some Cotsco's sell hydro spa too. A customer came into the store and said that they have Hydro not Elite or does different Cotsco's sell different brands?

The ELITE brand is made by MAAX, the same as coleman and has ABSOLUTELY nothing to do with the COstco tub. Its like comparing a Yugo to a Mercedes.

5yr mech & Elec., 7 yr shell, 7 yr. leak, 10 yr. frame

If I remeber right, its a 20 year structure, atleast thats what my dealer told me when I bought mine. The rest of the warranty you quoted is correct.
