Silver1 Posted June 10, 2007 Report Posted June 10, 2007 Quick question before we settle on a final location for the spa. We have decided on a spot that is next to a storage shed of ours. Do we need to clear the snow from the sides of the spa in ther winter. Quote
flibotte Posted June 11, 2007 Report Posted June 11, 2007 Only if you don't want to walk in it on your way to the spa. Quote

No, the snown on the sides of the spa won't hurt anything but you will want to clear a walkway to the tub. The bigger problem for us was the snow piling up on top of the cover. It gets heavy and can make the cover sag so you need to clear it off every so often. Also, it's hard to get the cover open when it's weighted down with snow and ice. Quote

Trigger Posted June 11, 2007 Report Posted June 11, 2007 As long as you can get around the tub to unlock the cover snaps and can knock the snow off the cover you are ok. Some folks have a cover lifter with a bar across the back, near to the ground, if you have a lifter like that, I would imagae you'd want good access to clear that area out as well. I placed my hot tub as close to the back door as possible, to minimize how far I'd have to walk out in the winter (As well as shovel). It's nice after a long winter night's soak to be close to the house and get inside quickly. Quote
In The Bubble Posted June 24, 2007 Report Posted June 24, 2007 What perfect timing for this thread. Laura and I were just discussing what to do in the winter months. We believe that keeping snow pack around the tub itself is good insulation. Is that the general consensus? Your experience in this is requested. Darren and Laura Quote
