wwillie Posted May 29, 2007 Report Posted May 29, 2007 just bought a used 2005 Hot Spings Vangaurd and want to change the color of the synthetic siding. Is it hard to take off the cabinet sides or should I tape off the tub and paint or stain while on the tub? Would spraying or brushing be better? Thanks! Quote
spatech (the unreal one) Posted May 29, 2007 Report Posted May 29, 2007 I would paint/stain it while its still on the tub which I've done a couple times without issue but the synthetic siding may not take too well to just any paint/stain so pick a small section on the back side to test out your paint/stain and let it dry before you decide if you like it. Flyonthewall Posted May 29, 2007 Report Posted May 29, 2007 Make sure you use an appropriate primer and prep the surface. Quote
Chas Posted May 29, 2007 Report Posted May 29, 2007 Call your dealer or the factory - there is a specific primer which gets the job done correctly. They can give you the name/number of the product for you to buy locally. Quote
Tyler Posted May 31, 2007 Report Posted May 31, 2007 How much would it cost to replace the siding with new from the factory? Quote
Trigger Posted May 31, 2007 Report Posted May 31, 2007 Im curious if one could expect a quality, long lasting finishing by restaining the perma wood? Does it really work well? or should one only consider it if the siding is in bad shape? (The tub doesn;t really match, but the finish is in good shape, do you keep it as is, or put a crappy stain on it, that looks worse but at least it matches?) Quote
