marianne Posted May 24, 2007 Report Posted May 24, 2007 Hi, we are looking at 3 person tubs, there is so much conflicting info on other sites, and this one seems pretty honest and above board. I'm down to Sundance Capari 880 (24 jets)or Metro 780(19 jets), Cal Spa Avalon 534(34 jets) or 526(26 jets, Dimension Reflections Triad(23jets), Vita L 100- Alero23 jets), Hydrospa Tiara(24 jets). I'm looking for reliablity, comfort--husband needs a lounder==3 herniated discs, good factory support, something that isn't a headache. I really would like to know what you think Thanks Quote
D.P. Roberts Posted May 24, 2007 Report Posted May 24, 2007 Well, the first thing I would point out is that the number of jets in the tub really doesn't tell you that much. The plumbing, the size of the pumps, the type of jets and their location can make a BIG difference. Wet testing will definitely show you this. Secondly, don't assume that a lounger will automatically give you the best therapy. A good "vertical" seat may be just as good as a lounger. Loungers are often a matter of personal preference. Having said that though, most of the 2-3 person tubs have a lounger, so you'll probably end up with one. Of the brands you mentioned, Sundance is probably the most reputable. I must make the disclaimer that I'm not too familiar with the other brands (my experience with Cal Spas consists of watching their video with Leslie Nielsen as King Tut). However, if you look at the reviews here and other good sites you'll probably agree. If you want a good, quality tub, you might also look at the Jacuzzi J-315 or the Hot Spring Jetsetter. I'm probably getting an older version of the Sundance Metro in a few weeks (assuming my local dealer is able to finish the rehab on it). If you're interested I'll let you know how it goes. Quote
marianne Posted May 24, 2007 Author Report Posted May 24, 2007 Thanks that would be great. What size pump should I be loooking for? Quote
Roger Posted May 24, 2007 Report Posted May 24, 2007 No one can tell you which is the best for you. Wet test if you can to get a feel. Anything else is simply sales retoric. Quote
D.P. Roberts Posted May 25, 2007 Report Posted May 25, 2007 I'd say the same thing about pump size. Think about it in terms of cars. A big, heavy car with a V8 can feel slow and sluggish, while a light, small car with a 4 cylinder engine (like, say, a MINI Cooper) can feel very fast. It's all about how it feels to you in a test drive. Quote
marianne Posted May 25, 2007 Author Report Posted May 25, 2007 Thank you both for your input, there is a homeshow here in Ft. Lauderdale this weekend, and they usually do show specials. I was just hoping to stay with reliable and no headache brands when I go to the show to see them alll under one roof and avoid the brands that a problem prone. Don't think I will get to wet test under these conditions so wanted to spend my time with the prices and detail comparisons of reccommended spas. Thanks for taking the time to give me your input again, Marianne Quote
D.P. Roberts Posted May 25, 2007 Report Posted May 25, 2007 Be careful about those home shows. Above all, remember one thing: There's no such thing as a deal that's good for "TODAY ONLY". There's nothing inherent in a home show that means you should get a special deal that day, and not get the same deal a few days later. Any dealers who say otherwise are lying. Quote
