Hello everyone - I have found a lot of good information on this site and I am hoping your experience and opinions will help me some more! I am purchasing a spa for my husband for his birthday in July.

He is not so into a lot of high-powered jets as he is just the relaxing aspects of the hot water and minimal jet usage for when he has been working hard.

I have two reputable dealers locally and I am looking at the Tiger River Bengal and the Marquis 641r (which the salesperson says is much like the reward but some sort of limited edition).

What are your opinions on these two spas? I can get the lift cover, led light option, and optional remote on the Marquis for about $7195 and just the tiger river with Ozone option and lift cover for about $6,600. both prices include delivery, cover, set up, start up chemicals. I really want to get a quality spa that my husband will love, so I am really interested in any and all opinions. I live in the south so winter heating not so much an issue. It will be outside on a concrete slab we like to call the patio.

Also, if anyone can explain to me what I really need electrically, I would appreciate it. I understand I need a 220 outlet, but what else?

Thanks, I really appreciate any help with this decision - I want to make the best choice for him, this is sort of a thank you for much DIY house remodeling.

I had the Caspain and its a very good tub for the money. Is this a surprise, or can you husband test each one out and decide for himself?

Both spas are worthy so either way you go you'll get a good spa. Maybe they don't have all the bells and whistles but you already don't think you need that so why pay for a larger spa with more lights, jets, etc. if you don't need it and if you did those dealers have those spas too as you've undoubtedly seen.

The electrical needs will be basically the same between teh two spas. As far as what else you need electrical wise, it's a pretty standard hookup for your electrician but the Tiger spa should come with the subpanel included (their subpanel is unique so it comes with the spa) whereas the Marquis may (or may not) include the subpanel so ask the dealers if that is included.

it is a suprise! I want him to come home to it up and running.

Firt time,

That's really a nice idea. And both of those tubs are very good. Usually though, we recomend folks wet test them and get the one that firts them.

What are you seeing on prices for these tubs? What does that include? (cover, lifter and steps, delivery and ozinator?)

They should be simillar priced. The big difference I see, obviously is the lounge vs no lounge. When is the birthday?

As far as electrical, you will need an electircian to come and run a 240v line out to a sub panel near the tub. From the sub panel the electrician will need to then run a cable to the tub. This can be expsensive and depending on how difficult it is, can cost from $400-800. You dealer can give you the exact electrical requirments (The tiger river Tub will come with the subpanel box too) and maybe able to recomend an electrician to you.

I think its a great Idea for you to get him a tub. I feel its a bad idea for him not to know about it. The tub will need to be put in a place in the yard that will be permanent. Tubs feel different to different people. I like you husband never cared for the jets until I got the tub i have now which is one of the brands you mention. I love the jets after a long hard day now. As far as buying something like this it's always better to let him know this is a big purchase to make with out consulting him trust me he will be happy just knowing he is getting one. also this way you guys can go test different tubs out and find one you both like. Either way he is going to be happy wish you luck.

Thanks

Bill
