Hi all appreciate some help here.  Been using the bromine method in my Hot Tub for years with no issues… recently I started seeing these white flakes in my spa.  I thought at first they were dead skin, but they clearly are not.  I drained the tub and thoroughly cleaned.  Refilled and got the water chemistry perfect.  I thought all was good.  After a week of use with everything, OK, I didn’t use the tub for a couple of days.  I came back to what you seen in the pictures.  Could this be residual from what was in the lines prior to refill? It seems like maybe I am generating this as it would appear to me to be too much for line residual.  My water balance is spot-on total alkalinity of 90 pH of 7.6….. Roaming levels at around 5 to 6.   Shock with bleach weekly.  Anyone know what is happening?  The flakes disintegrate when you rub them… But they are not dissolving, obviously.IMG_2344.thumb.jpeg.7ff314e0e0fc9c07afc87e359cdc38fd.jpeg

TA of 90 is a bit high. You'd have better pH stability with a TA of 50 to 70 and maintain your pH no lower than 7.6, 7.8 would be better and don't lowering until it hits 8.0 to minimize the outgrowing of co2, which is the main cause of pH rise in pools and spas.

How are you testing your water?

What is your calcium hardness (not total hardness)?

Have you purged with a product like Ahhsome or another spa purge?

Are the flakes like wet tissue and break apart when you touch them?

If you post a full set of test results and the test method used (strips, liquid reagents, dealer testing with a machine, etc ) it would give a better idea if what's going on.
