Dpwct Posted May 13 Report Posted May 13 My hot tub is leaking - I see water coming out from the bottom of tub. - It leaks evenn when I fill just the bottom with no jets on. I think it is coming from the ozone jet - Hot Spring Pulse 2015 Any idea how to fix (and access it to fix?) Quote
THE DUDE Posted May 13 Report Posted May 13 Is the check valve leaking on the ozone system? Some at least mine were installed incorrectly with no air loop above the water line. When the check valve leaks it backsyphons when its off. Most of the ozone lines and valves are a yearly maintenance replacement. I capped my injector last October witha 3/8 ID rubber automotive vacuum cap and disconnected the ozone. it only ran with the #1 pump anyway. I was going to reconnect it with a new check and run a air loop but I have not noticed any differance without it. i disconnected my daughters systemon her tub in febuary as it started leaking. They mounted the ozone controller on the bottom base and again no air loop above the water level to break a vacuum. Quote
Dpwct Posted May 13 Author Report Posted May 13 Thanks for your Would that cause the leak out of the bottom of the unit ? for what it’s worth I have no water leaking in the equipment panel please tell me how to check to see if the ozone check valve is installed incorrectly and how to plug it if you’re suggesting that’s a good test for the leak Quote
THE DUDE Posted May 14 Report Posted May 14 On the ozone generator there is a air inlet on the generator itself. Its only like a 1/4-3/8".Mine dribbled back out of this inlet and when enough water got built up started running out the bottom. I noticed what i thought was condensate dripping from the cover wasn't drying up. Mine leaked only when the pump was off as there is a vacuum created at the injector with the pump on. Thing about the ozone is, at least my Hot tub manufacture never mentioned maintenance of those parts. it was only until mine leaked and I started looking the parts up i found where they recommended changing the ozone tubing and check valves once a year. Of coarse my ozone /UV setup has the hot tub manufactures name on it but is actually called Del ozone by CMP. If they new enough to put their name on it, it would have been nice for them to install it correctly. Quote
Dpwct Posted May 14 Author Report Posted May 14 Thanks That’s interesting. What’s happening to me Is when I fill up the tub it starts leaking a lot out of the bottom of the tub so I can’t really tell where it’s coming from but it starts to leak when the water gets above the ozone jet and then levels off right below the jet This is when there is no power on I have no water, leakage or wet conditions in the equipment panel. do you think with that situation it could be something similar to what you had Quote
THE DUDE Posted May 15 Report Posted May 15 Depends on where the ozone generator is mounted or if there even is one installed. it was just a suggestion to check. Sounds more like that fitting itself is leaking or possibly the hose connecting to it may be leaking. My daughters generator was just set on the bottom of the tub enclosure and below any water level line. Not sure if you can get the rear panel off with the wall there to get in and look but with it drained you may be able to disconnect the electric and set it up on a few pvc rollers and roll it out then roll it back in place after its fixed. It wasn't drained for winter and froze by any chance?after i pumped mine out for a purge . It took 18 gallons of water to fill mine BEFORE it started coming out of the factory bottom drain. That tells me there is at least 18 gallons of water left in the plumbing I cannot drain out. Would have probably helped if they wouldn't have ran the drain uphill over other tubing also. At least i know i cannot drain it with the factory drain and be fully empty. Quote
