I’m having a hard time finding a standalone wifi box  that connects to a water temperature probe.   The probe would penetrate and clamp onto a PVC pool filter return line.   I can build these no problem but our HOA pool requires commercial products be used.   We need the sensor be placed inside our pool pump building - it can’t float in the pool or hang over the pool side.    I’m not looking to spend big bucks on a Hayward or similar pool/spa automation system.    We just need a simple wifi temperature sensor that can provide readings remotely.    There a BLEbox pool  system out of Germany that does this but it’s no longer sold.  That type of system what I’m looking for…

Check out the Apollo Pool Aquastat by MBTEK. It might do what you need for a reasobable price. DISCLAIMER:  I  know nothing about this company or its products. I found it by a quick internet search.  Remember, Google is your friend. 😉

Thx for the suggestion about MBTEK - their IOS  app software has about the lowest user reviews I’ve even seen.   Apparently not updated since 2023  & barely usable.

Any other ideas?   It seems weird there aren’t more choices in the marketplace other than solar powered pool floating temperature pods?   I guess maybe not enough customer demand?

There are actually many choices but they fall into the range of commercial pool automation and they are expensive and you already said you were not interested in an automation system. If this pool has a heater it should have a thermostat with a readout. It might be possible to connect something to the heater to send out the temperature info instead of a stand along device. Personlally I have never seen such a device but it doesn't mean it doesn't exist.

The floating thermometers are gadgets for home users much like test strip readers and floating pH/orp meters. All useless IMHO.

After a little more research I’ve learned that K type probes are a standard for all types of industrial & commercial uses.   Find any K type wifi data logger and buy a K type temperature probe that’s got a thread in pipe fitting.  K type temperature probes are thermocouples that produce a certain calibrated voltage at  a given temperature.  The data logger has a universal K type 2 pin wire lead connector.    The data logger reads that voltage and can display the corresponding temperature.    K probes aren’t expensive ($15-$60 or so) and usually have a certification of calibration.     One K type data wifi logger is made by Thermoworks,   but any wifi K type data logger can be used.

Figured I post all this for future web searches by others…

Disclaimer - I know nothing further about the Thermoworks company,  I don’t work for them or promote their products.   I happened  to run across a brief tutorial on how K probes work and that led me into running a search for K probe data loggers.

since you've solved your problem I'm locking this thread. I am also removing the link since this product is not really designed for pool/spa use and the sanitizers in the water might have an adverse effect on the probe so this is more of an experimental use. It seems that most of the products of that company are for food service or medical use.
