Sweetbeckylynn Posted April 18 Report Posted April 18 I've been in the pool spa industry for 5 years and have never seen this before. I assume it's a biofilm but much thicker than what I've seen in the past. It is super thick, bright orange, with a vomit smell and feels like skin. Biofilm yes or no? If no, what? waterbear Posted April 19 Report Posted April 19 Bio film or mold. Biofilm is usually slimy so its more likely mold. Orange color could indicate high iron levels in the water but orange to pink biofilm is quite common (the infamous "pink slime" that is common in biguinide/peroxide sanitizer systems such as soft Soak and Sirona (formerly BacquaSpa). What sanitizer is being used and how well has it been maintained? A full set of test results would be useful (not done with strips). A purge, drain, and refill is where I would start. Quote
