The lights quit. I bought new batteries for the remote and the remote is ok. I think. How can I test the light strip? I don;t want to but one part and then find out its the other. (It went odd the other night and was going from green to yellow and back sort of on its own, then the next night there was nothing at all.)

That's frustrating. If you have a multimeter you can set it to continuity mode and check the strip's solder points to make sure there's no break in the circuit. This will identify if there's a short or break in the strip itself.
