RickRoach Posted December 27, 2024 Report Posted December 27, 2024 2016 Bullfrog Spa - basic single pump model. Pump is making a racket but jets work.. I replaced the heating tube which included new element and sensors. Turn on .. heat light comes on blinking rapidly then after a few seconds it cuts off and throws a DY or Dr code. If I run with jets on full, circulation is good but heat does not come on. Would my dying pump cause that, or is another issue? Quote
CanadianSpaTech Posted December 28, 2024 Report Posted December 28, 2024 Will the pump run in low speed or just high speed? 18 hours ago, RickRoach said: Pump is making a racket but jets work Is it a loud hard buzzing sound when it tries to start in low and the goes away when you engage hi speed? If yes you might have a stuck pump relay and the spa is sending power to both speeds at once. Do you have a multi meter and basic knowledge of how to use it to test for power? Quote
RickRoach Posted March 10 Author Report Posted March 10 Since last posting a question, I have replaced the pump and the heater tube assembly including new heating element. I no longer get error codes, pump works fine. It seems to be heating some, but very little. Temp reading shows over 90 but still fairly cool to the touch. I used voltage meter on the heating tube and it is reading 240.. Ohms reading is correct on the heating tube as well. Is this a temperature sensor issue? IF so, where do I find the temperature sensor on my model of Bullfrog Spa? (X-series). It is NOT in the filter area. Quote
Spa Board Doctor Posted March 30 Report Posted March 30 Are there two sensors, one on each end of the heater barrel? If so, one is the high limit, the other is the temperature sensor. If you have 240V across the heater and the Ohms reading across the element is correct, then the only other thing it can be is a bad relay on the board. This is a repairable failure. Quote
