wryork25 Posted November 17, 2024 Report Posted November 17, 2024 I am trying to trouble shoot my spa and was hoping for some help. I ha e an electronics background and I am pretty decent at fixing things here it goes; model Jacuzzi j325 120v 60hz, the date on the controler box is 2004. I changed the water out in the tub and replaced a couple jets that were starting to fail. The tub was off for about a week before I was able to fill and start. On start up I bet the start up cycle which flashes 356 then the temp 64, then FL1. The circulation pump does come on briefly but suits off. My initial thought was an air lock. I when through all the normal procedures to deal with that, flushing hose water in the port near the light, in the filter slots, I even cracked the threads on the pump motor, no air release. I did try to turn on the jets as well to try and burp it, I have the control panel with only one jet button for both low speed and high. when I would try and go to high speed it would not, I have already verified that the flow switch is good and getting to the board. I am starting to think my board is bad but I kind of was hoping to do some more troubleshooting before replacing. I am going to look at the schematic tonight and see if there is any info on the logic circuits and such. Do you have suggestions or info that might help with this? Thank you in advance for any assistance you could provide. Quote
CanadianSpaTech Posted November 17, 2024 Report Posted November 17, 2024 Do you have a multimeter and know the basics? Test for power at the circuit board where the circ connects. Do you get power to the circ even after is shuts off? testing to see if it is a circ pump issue. Is the spa new to you and has run at your location previously? Post photos of the circuit board and the schematic on inside cover Remove filters. Take them out of the equation. Dirty filters are flow killers 1 Quote
wryork25 Posted November 17, 2024 Author Report Posted November 17, 2024 Yes, I have a meter and know the basics, I am familiar with board troubleshooting although it has been a while since I did work like that. The circulation pump is getting power, but is cycling off, to include power from board to pump. All basic power checks on the board have been done and seem to be within specs. I will try and post pics of the board and schematic tomorrow but the drawing is a basic wiring diagram. I do know that the board Part number is 6600-086 rev A. Filters have been removed with no difference. The tub is not new to me it was here when we bought the house, I have owned it for 7 years. Quote

The small Laing circ pumps are notorious for cycling on/off when they start to fail. 1 Quote
wryork25 Posted November 18, 2024 Author Report Posted November 18, 2024 I will verify this tonight when I get off work, I will let you know. Quote
wryork25 Posted November 19, 2024 Author Report Posted November 19, 2024 I verified that the board is not sending power to the circ pump after it stops, the pump cycles off and the power from the board cycles off too. Any other suggestions? Quote
Spa Board Doctor Posted November 20, 2024 Report Posted November 20, 2024 Some boards cycle the power to the circ pump off and back on again if the flow signal is not received in an attempt to prime the pump. You'll want to check the flow/pressure switch operation as well as the condition of the switch cable and board connection. You can disconnect the flow switch plug from the board and test across the cable side plug contacts for continuity when the circ pump is on, you should have continuity across the contacts when the pump is on and no continuity when it is off. Trace the entirety of the flow switch cable for any breaks or chew marks as rodents sometimes dine on the cables. If the flow switch closes with circ pump operation and opens without then check the receptacle pins on the board where the flow switch plugs in for any signs of corrosion - clean corroded receptacle pins with 90% rubbing alcohol. 1 Quote
