jamiecca Posted November 4, 2024 Report Posted November 4, 2024 Hi, just wondering if anybody out there ever has to use a small generator to run there Cyclone pool liner vac / air blower? I'm trying to figure out what the smallest size possible is that will run it without issue. A quick search seems to say that they probably pull a little under 2400 Watts but that's just based on the math without considering efficiency and whatnot. Just curious if anybody has a very small one that they ever use to run it without issue? I use them for winterizing hot tubs daily and as we all know, outdoor power outlets are notorious for tripping the breaker in the house, so considering getting a very small one to keep in the van to avoid return trips when this happens. Random question, I know. Just thought I'd throw it out there.. thanks all. Quote

A small generator with at least 2000-3000 watts should be sufficient to run a Cyclone Liner VacAir blower, but it’s always best to check the specific power requirements of your blower model to ensure compatibility. If in doubt, consult the manufacturer’s specifications or user manual for precise wattage needs. Quote
RyanSwims Posted May 10 Report Posted May 10 Hey jamiecca, good question. Definitely not too random. For a Cyclone liner vac or air blower, you’re pretty spot on. Most of them pull just under 2,400 watts, but startup surge can spike a bit higher, especially if the motor kicks hard. To play it safe, I’d look for a generator rated at least 3,000 watts running and 3,500 watts peak. That gives you the headroom for startup draw without risking trips or throttle drops. Anything lower and you’re kind of rolling the dice every time it powers up. If you’re planning to keep it in the van just to cover those annoying house breaker trips, something like a compact inverter generator in that 3,000-watt range should do the trick. Honda, Westinghouse, and Champion all make solid portable options that are quiet and won’t take up much space. Bonus tip: make sure the extension cord you’re using is heavy-duty and as short as possible. Undersized cords cause voltage drops, which make the motor pull even more power and can trip your setup.
