AllenJ Posted April 30, 2007 Report Posted April 30, 2007 I have a 1994 Hot Springs Grandee and I have a leak around the light lens. Water is leaking inside the motor compartment. I have had a hairline crack below the light in the past and a Hot Springs dealer charged me 500 bucks to come out-- several years ago. From that repair there is some patch epoxy around near the light cover but not over the edges. Can I replace the light lens-- the screws/nuts look pretty rusted-- how might I get it out and where can I get a replacement? What would I use to try and caulk or seal it vs. taking it out? Thanks Quote
Chas Posted May 1, 2007 Report Posted May 1, 2007 The lens is glued in place. The nuts are used to hold it in place until the glue sets - you can ignore them at this point. You can replace the light lens with the kit that Watkins puts in the current model spas. It comes in white, warm gray and cool gray. It comes with complete instructions. You glue it in with Devcon epoxy - there is a part number for that from Watkins as well. It works well. Go to any HotSpring dealer and ask for the light lens kit and devcon kit. BTW - the old light lens became brittle and cracked if you used BaquaSpa. The new lens does not. Quote

Chas Posted May 1, 2007 Report Posted May 1, 2007 Thank so much--What is BaquaSpa? AB Baqua is a non-chlorine system for sanitizing. It uses Hydrogen Peroxide as a shock, and I think that is what damages the polycarbonate plastics. If you are not using it, is it possible a former owner did? I just don't see many of these lenses crack otherwise. Quote
