Tom80
So being as I am a subsea designer I feel that I should have no issues with designing this idea I have 😛 I am trying to see a negative in doing so, so please add a negative if there is one. Rather than cutting into my plumbing and installing a large and expensive UVC unit, I want to, when not being in it naturally, float a UVC light in a tube in the water when the lid is on for set amounts of time. Removing it when using the tub. I can’t see an issue with this, unless you have an idea why not? and also feel a larger volume of water will be exposed to the light during filter cycles. Than fast moving water passed an internal unit. The only issue maybe would be uv exposure to the plastics and hard lining of the tub? I could just buy one of these maybe… https://uk.vicedeal.com/products/sebo-uvc-series-aquarium-built-in-germicidal-lamp-mini-water-purifier-ultraviolet-sterilization-deodorization-removal-of-algae?variant=UHJvZHVjdFZhcmlhbnQ6MjU2MjUxNzM0&gclid=CjwKCAjwpJWoBhA8EiwAHZFzfmU5YTRo1EvzpOiW0FOh01dqcyQxRFYYuIdfQQQ00qUtd4XvUHZbvRoCFToQAvD_BwE
CanadianSpaTech
Typical engineer...lol you are IMO overthinking the issue. Most if not all UV/ozone systems have a short 1-3 year lifespan. 95% of folks have no idea that they require attention and don't even notice when the units stop working efficiently. So to me that begs the question do you even need one. Use a proper chemical maintenance routine and you will be fine. Read through the chemistry section on this forum for best results. Some folks use a Saltron mini with some positive reviews. I have never used one personally (again don't see the need) but you might consider. https://spadepot.com/products/saltron-mini-spa-salt-water-system-chlorine-generator-cx1004 18 hours ago, Tom80 said: cutting into my plumbing and installing a large and expensive UVC unit UV systems work best with a low flow 24H circ pumps (3/4" plumbing)

I do have to ask these questions I am as always over engineering, but I like to do this then things last. Currently got it all working and now building in the RGB lighting and soundproof casing for the pump with inlet and outlet for airflow.
