Hi,

I have enjoyed lurking here and got a lot of helpful info in my spa hunt.

We decided on the giant Paradise model of LA SPAs (11x8).

My 8 year old PDC Aruba (7x7 325 gallons) is going to my sisters house.

My dealer says that I have to have our amp switch (outside cutoff) changed from 50 to 60.

My question is: What should my sister have put in for the Aruba coming to her house?? Was 50 strong enough for the Aruba?

Thank you for ANYONE with any input!

Happy Holidays,

Victoria

PS We have a big family so we needed a BIG hot tub. :D

50 amps is enough for many tubs. But 60 amp is required for alot of the bigger tubs with multiple pumps. How many pumps and what size heater is in your old tub? Did it work fine at your house with 50 amps?

Reading my manual on my spa, i was recommended to use 60amp, but after talking to my dealer they told me that 50 would be fine. The manual recommended 60amp because that is the most that i would need should i add more pumps to my spa. I ended up putting a 50 amp GFCI in my breaker box inside the house with a 60amp outdoor disconnect. My electrician checked everything and i could have gotten away with a 40amp gfci inside, but now i can still safely add an additional pump should i choose to do so. Basically, you'll need to know how much power your tub draws. Your dealer should be able to tell you this, or have your electrician check it as well with EVERYTHING running on it (i did this as a double check after it was all hooked up, and i could have used a 40amp with no problems, all pumps on, therapy air, lights, etc).
